#UnitedStates: The case of Christa Pike lays bare multiple reasons why the death penalty should be abolished. The prolonged suffering – physical and mental – arising from multiple failed execution attempts is abhorrent, and cruel. And there are key fair trial questions still unresolved.
UN Human Rights Chief @volker_turk calls on the state authorities not to pursue any further attempt to execute Pike.
We are also troubled by the increase in the number of executions in the United States.
The death penalty has no place in any society.
Introducing EverythingWeather for the web, now live at https://t.co/uhR0lw4JwJ!
For 48 hours the pro version is free for anyone, no log in required. Once the new mobile app updates come out (any day now), you can create an account and log in with the same username/password on all devices to enable pro on all your devices.
The web includes a ton of data with more coming in the near future. It includes the NWS forecast, alerts, outlooks, products, and weather stories. Also solar and astronomy data, hi-res radar (all products and numerous tilts) with dual and 4-panel displays and historical radar back to 2020 (for now), hi-res satellite data, the NBM model (more models coming soon!), MADIS observations, drawing, measurement, and sampling tools, storm reports, future radar from the RRFS and HRRR, Tropical tracks and forecasts/outlooks, the GDM-WNV3 model, an in-depth climate page, and much more!
Check it out and let me know what you think!
@CEtheridgeWX Also fascinating how the outages were all to the right of where the center tracked inland. Just reaffirms how much power the onshore flow/right front quadrant can have.
Headed to the #mackinacbridgewalk tomorrow? Comfortable weather looks to be in store for the region, but areas near the lakes often face a cooler, windier sub climate.
See if you can predict the actual conditions in our forecast challenge! https://t.co/YIEPOsvhKj
@MrAustinPredict Strongest reported gust from yesterday was 70 mph in Howell, but considering the outages and damage near Detroit, those numbers were probably seen there too. Already reports of nickel size hail west of Lansing from today, which will also move into Metro Detroit vicinity later.
If you’re in Michigan and have a weather/storm report, https://t.co/TffPdULFjG shows you how/where to send your report and displays detailed data for all reports received by the NWS over the past 24 hours.
Heavy rain last night led to reports of flooding in and around Muskegon. Public reports indicate 3-4 inches of rain fell across the area.

New proposed changes to WPC's Excessive Rainfall Outlook add 5 outlook tiers rather than the existing 4 tiers. This would specifically add an "Enhanced Risk", similar to what the current SPC severe weather convective outlooks have.

@ConsumersEnergy Will the station data be publicly available and/or shared through the NWS API like the mesonet stations?
My site @SkybleWx tracks 500+ of those stations while also letting users submit their own predictions for what will be reported. Would be nice to get more data input.
The unbeatable wx app duo:
1.EverythingWx that pulls every bit of NWS info you could imagine + customizable alerts for wx variables, NWS products, etc
2. WeatherFront with its unbeatable radar + model + satellite + observations mapping
@wxkylegillett@EverythingWX@SkybleWx (2/2) That being said, I hope the next weather apps aren’t just copycats and push further into what I envision. For example, users making their own predictions/forecasts, where averages can be aggregated into a probability forecast for anywhere you can think of.
@wxkylegillett (1/2) I believe Cory @EverythingWX started up right as I started @SkybleWx (similar concept for Michigan specifically), and we both got talking about making weather apps feel “gamified” while teaching users all the NWS outlooks and not just relying on the high/lows and radar.
Skyble's interface just got a big upgrade! Now you can explore live data for hundreds of stations directly on the station map.
Unlike your weather app, Skyble delivers real ground data and offers unmatched data analysis and tracking.

Shoutout to @MiStormChasers on the launch of their new app. I love to see features that encourage community engagement and the gamification of data.
The future of weather information is more about practical implementation and less about niche features.

Numerous severe weather reports came in overnight, including reports of baseball sized hail near Escanaba and a tornadic waterspout near Marquette!
