The language of transphobia is almost identical to the language of homophobia in the 80s/90s. I know this because I came out 36 yrs ago. Anyone who says otherwise is lying.
People smeared as unsafe in changing rooms, a danger to kids, sexually deviant, morally corrupting etc.
@tvheidihatch Just as a friendly sharing of resources. I really enjoy this independent SCOTUS news blog.
Thanks for all your reporting - it’s appreciated! https://t.co/wuSfzA1Fu7
"We see this being really an incentive for arrests from local police stations and other sheriff departments to just find people who 'don't look American,'" said ACLU of Utah spokesperson Aaron Welcher. https://t.co/8lMUNRkq9D
@LindsayOnAir, your reporting embodied the vital role of a free press in our democracy. Your coverage checked government power and empowered the public to make informed choices. Thank you for being so dedicated to truth; it made a difference.
This is not a fun post to write, but for people who follow me here for local news I wanted to share that I have been laid off from KSL.
I've worked there for nine years, eight on radio and one on TV. It's sort of surreal that I won't get up each day and chase a story, chase a lawmaker, or hunt down a source. It's what I did for so long.
Thank you doesn't seem adequate to the people who have reached out with kind words, and to those who have supported me along the way.
And as one who often covered local politics, #utpol and the #utleg, there are people here who will undoubtedly celebrate this news. And that's okay. I'm very proud of the work I did.
I don't yet know my next move, or what this space will become and I'm okay with that too. I'm looking forward to what's possible. ❤️ Stay tuned.
