Congratulations Emily! The Nominata is UTSW's highest student award for academic excellence! A well deserved win for an incredible @GammonLab lab mate, incredible collaborator, and close friend! Woo!! 🧬🎉
Dynamic immune cell profiling in the gut over the course of a day! A beautiful collection of data sets, congratulations to @ImmYouKnowledgy and friends on a beautiful BioRx submission!
I'm so happy to see this out on bioRxiv! I took a detour to collaborate with some wonderful people to make this dataset a reality. Our goal was to conduct an unbiased analysis of immune system changes in the small intestine over the course of the day. Enjoy!
🎉 Thrilled to see our #MosquitoCellAtlas featured on the cover of @CellCellPress! This mosaic represents 367,000+ cells across 19 tissues, unveiling the complex biology that makes mosquitoes the world's deadliest animals. Art meets science! 🦟🎨
Checking my cells and infections late tonight for a collaboration - who might I see @ almost 11pm, still hard at work in the lab, @CT_Wu_Lab! One of my favorites, polishing up some last minute data for his talk at our PMID (Microbes, Immunity, & Disease) symposium. What a legend!
Very proud to have our lab's first work published in @cellhostmicrobe!
In this work, we use functional metagenomics to find phage defenses from human and soil microbiomes!
Congrats to first author @luis840alberto !

Our (@GammonLab) manuscript on virus-host interactions & RNF214 is now out in @PLOSPathogens! Perhaps one of the coolest things we found was that RNF214 knockout increased viral infections, without altering IFN-Beta signalling or select ISG expression!

Research led by @dorsolab at #UTSW finds mechanisms to repress activation of genes that promote #cancer development and progression upon p53 loss. @MolecularCell https://t.co/XHSfUkOtRl #sciencetwitter
Our preprint exploring bacterial effectors & mammalian immunity is out! I often heard during our last project "Why study moths? Do it in mammals!"... So we did, two even! Huge thanks to everyone who contributed to this story, wouldn't be here without y'all

New preprint from Gammon Lab @UTSWMedCenter where bacterial effectors reveal a role for mammalian RNF214 proteins in antiviral immunity in bats and humans! Great collab with the Alto Lab!

Finally, after the establishment of a #sandfly colony in Montpellier, France @ird_fr@MIVEGEC@GenesysMIVEGEC and 3 years of intense research, I'm very pleased to share with you my main PhD research article on #Toscanavirus infection dynamics 🥳 https://t.co/UHVy7Ni2Y1
Can we use animal venom for arbovirus transmission control? @LSTMvector and @CSRIatLSTM are exploring that possibility in our (pre-print) review.

We found many cases of horizontal gene transfer of Dynamin-like genes between host genomes & large dsDNA viruses that replicate in the cytoplasm. (Also see https://t.co/7wak8oly8D)
TL;DR: Dynamin function is an ancient, likely ongoing battle between host & viral genomes. /5
Faculty search announcement: Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Microbiology at UT Southwestern. We seek candidates working in microbial pathogenesis (some preference may be given to bacterial pathogens). Come join our community! (1/5)
