In Bo'ness today to visit the wildflower meadow I studied during my dissertation in 2016/17. It's still going strong and the council have even expanded upon it with a previous amenity grassland. >30 species clocked. Great way to spend a bank holiday #wildflower #boness #botany

Was in Carlisle doing a wee bat transect survey last week. Wasn't expecting too much but had loads of bat calls to my delight. Lovely linear hedgerows for commuting/foraging #bats #ecology

@NatureLark ETP2 is a great detector, live sonograms, lower noise, easy to use. The auto ID can't always be trusted, and you just need to make sure your device is compatible with your device. Great bit of kit for surveys.

@agricontract @pete_ar_fryn Certain farming, like growing maize, results in the soil absorbing less water, which adds silt to rivers, which makes rivers prone to flooding. Dredging sends deeper, faster water further downstream.

@theSpurtle And I think the wealth disparity in this area/lack of housing is further emphasised by places like 64 Broughton Rd where two wealthy people have built a large detached home on a busy road and occupied space that several flats could occupy, and there's no discussion around this

@theSpurtle I'm so tired of Edinburgh council assuming undeveloped greenspaces are wasted profits, and don't contribute anything to locals/wellbeing/wildlife/sense of place. The greenspaces in areas, like Canonmills and Powderhall are being squeezed and edged into

@thecockburn One of the local issues is the sheer density of development in this area. It's quickly become engulfed. There's already two developments going ahead across from Broughton Primary in addition to student flats. Low proportion of this new development will be social housing
