On the morning of July 29, 2025,
immediately after the ceasefire took effect, the Thai armed forces illegally arrested Cambodian military personnel. As of August 31, 2025, they have been detained unlawfully for 33days.

The Ministry of Information has released an urgent communication from the Cambodian Human Rights Committee to the UN, denouncing the unlawful capture and mistreatment of Cambodian soldiers by Thai forces. One is now physically disabled; the other is suffering from severe psychological trauma, reportedly due to degrading treatment while in Thai custody.
