Trump says people with learning disabilities are “dumb.” We are not.
BREAKING: JFK's niece shreds Trump over his disgusting attack on reporter Kaitlan Collins for being a "young woman" who doesn't "smile" after she asked him about the Epstein files.
Our nation has lost so much of the dignity it once had...
"In years past, this sort of behavior would have been unimaginable from a president of the United States. Unimaginable," Maria Shriver wrote on X. "There are other words to describe this, but you can simply watch it and feel it yourself."
"This is being done in public. The press is being attacked in public and private," she continued. "Having a free press is critical to our democracy. Having a president that knows how to answer questions with class, professionalism, and intelligence is critical to our culture and society."
Shriver, the daughter of JFK's sister Eunice Kennedy Shriver, shared the clip of Collins and Trump that went viral yesterday as "Smilegate."
"You talked about Democrats who were in [the Epstein files]. Elon Musk was also in there, and so was your Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and correspondence that he had with him," Collins said to Trump in the Oval Office. "Did you read those new files that were published by the Department of Justice?"
"No I didn't uh... I have a lot of things I'm doing. A lot of things I'm doing. I don't know," said Trump. "You mentioned two names. I'm sure they're fine. I'm sure they're fine. Otherwise, it would have been major headlines."
"A lot of women who are survivors of Epstein's are unhappy with those redactions that came out. Some of the entire witness interviews are totally blacked out," said Collins. "Do you think that they should be more transparent?"
The recent release of Epstein files is riddled with redactions clearly designed solely to protect the identities of powerful people who fraternized, conspired, and engaged in sexual abuse with Jeffrey Epstein. The Justice Department is engaged in a blatant cover up.
"Well, they're also unhappy with the fact that they thought they released too much. You know, I heard that," said Trump. "And you tell me something else. I think it's really time for the country to get on to something else, really"
"Now that nothing came out about me, other than there was a conspiracy against me, literally, by Epstein and other people," he continued. "But I think it's time now for the country to maybe get on to something else, like healthcare, something that people care about."
In reality, Trump's name is as all over the Epstein files and the documents include stomach-churning allegations that he raped, abused, threatened ,and was possibly even involved in the killing of children. Who knows where else his name appears in the unreleased files or under the black bar redactions? We've been given just a glimpse of his involvement and already it's horrifying.
"What would you say to the survivors?" asked Collins.
"You are so bad. You are the worst reporter," snapped Trump. "No wonder CNN has no ratings because of people like you. You know, she's a young woman. I don't think I've ever seen you smile. I've known you for ten years. I don't think I've ever seen a smile on your face."
"I'm asking about survivors," interjected Collins.
"You know why? You know why you're not smiling? Because you know you're not telling the truth," Trump said. "And you're you're a very dishonest organization. And they should be ashamed of you."
The incredibly sexist trope of telling a woman to "smile more" is unfortunately par of the course for this disgrace of a president, but it highlights just how far the office has fallen.
