I'm sorry for your predicament. But let me share something that may relevant in this kind of cases.

As you said, it's your engagement, which means the decision to marry is between you and the girl.

It was called off by unnamed persons. Which we're expected to believe is the lady's side of the family.

But here is the thing. Wedding arrangements are hardly called off unilaterally without the tacit or direct approval of the person who is getting married.

The lady may tell you she has tried to resist their attempt to call it off, but there is every likelihood, she is okay with it being called off.

This is applicable to both genders.

If any man wants to marry you and you hear him telling you that he has been pressured not to. Just know that the guy is trying to also hide behind that excuse to cut off the relationship.

This is what I strongly believe.

When two people are determined to get married, no matter the resistance against them, they prevail.

Yes. There is the issue of Qadr. That is an entirely different issue.

I'm simply talking about personal efforts and commitment put by persons to see that they resist these kind of intrusions into their personal life at the point of getting married.
