@MeghanEMurphy The psychologist Erich Fromm referred to them as automata. They’re told what to think and accept it without any critical thought. Political beliefs become part of their identity and can’t be penetrated with rational conversation b/c they lack the capacity for independent thought.
@motleyjoo Ignoring your inaccuracy since France and Germany have both public and private health insurance, single payer healthcare fails to deal with anything but very serious illness well. Good luck getting “elective” surgery any sooner other than waiting months and months at a time.
@michelletandler If a government orients its policies to subsidize poor people it will inevitably end up with more poor people. In CA there clearly is no limiting principle so it has put itself in a financial bind. It can no longer afford these subsidies but cutting is politically unpalatable.
@dccommonsense Presidential pardons: they all do it. Remaking east wing: don’t care at all. Epstein files: they both hid it. Kennedy Center name: don’t care even a little.
Is this really that difficult for you?
@michaelevknight You naively wish away human nature like a child. And then when it turns out concentrated power in humans who are inherently self interested leads to disaster you delusionally claim that wasn’t really socialism. You obv want something for nothing but hey that’s not self interest.
@AnnaLeptikon The point though is you can always tell someone has a very weak argument when they try to use a definition which varies from a word’s most common usage. Sometimes they will even use a definition which is at odds with the common definition - e.g. the word faith.
@nytimes@nytopinion You are clearly on the wrong side of history because of your childish ideology. Either woman and men are equal in terms of volition or not. You’re poorly thought out article denies female volition and clearly infantilizes women. How “progressive” of you.
@Judge_Leben@JerryMoran Let’s stop pretending Congress is a dignified institution. Elizabeth Warren like most DC politicians is a pathological liar and everyone with even a little objectivity knows it. Her stealing a law school professorship from an indigenous person should be the outrage.
@olivvrszn Maybe someday you’ll at least learn the basics of economics before you post about economics. Does the word “risk” mean anything to you or is it too confusing? How about uncertainty?
Oh where, oh where is there at least one Leftist who understands very basic economics?
@realTuckFrumper All due respect, you should look at how your “social democracies” are doing rn across the globe. No one, except the countries themselves, goes bankrupt.
And yes everyone want’s to believe they can get something for nothing. But sooner or later the bill comes due.
@girdley@jasonc_nc Conservative policies which according to you don’t exist: 1) Smaller government; 2) Lower taxes; 3) Tighter immigration restrictions / deportation of existing illegals; 4) Constructionist reading of the Constitution; 5) Pro 2nd amendment; 6) Less welfare spending …
@NataliaHEmanuel Is this parody? Maybe this study gets it exactly backwards? Maybe Starbucks chooses locations in part based on education and income level rather than people with high household incomes and high education levels thinking yeah there’s a Starbucks maybe I’ll move there.
@DylanRatigan Explicitly exempt extreme wealth???? So the individuals didn’t pay taxes, including highly progressive income taxes, on the way to generating the wealth? No business taxes either? Your point is spectacularly dumb.
@D_Langenmayr An “economist” who doesn’t understand the government capital allocation problem at all. Perhaps someday European “economists” will figure out govt is awful at spending decisions. Or not.
@unusual_whales That’s like saying a bucket of water with a hole in the bottom isn’t leaking because someone’s pouring water in at the top. Obviously Silicon Valley and high tech are making new millionaires while existing ones are leaving. IRS data confirm this 🙄.
@GadSaad@Pontifex Yes. He sooo empathetic. Of course this fraud doesn’t seem to care about the inviolability and dignity of the dead victims but hey virtue signaling I’m sure will be rewarded at the pearly gates.
@BretWeinstein No. These risks are clearly not acceptable and the child lacks the ability to consent to them. Most adults can adequately assess the risk but a 7 year old definitely can’t. This is unquestionably horribly irresponsible on the part of the father.
@peterboghossian Poorly educated teachers are pushing ideological beliefs on students who are poorly positioned to understand the obvious flaws in what they’re told. Philosophy, history, psychology and economics are taught with a leftist spin and students have little chance to hear alternatives.
