A few years ago I published the text of a talk I gave on the idea "Anglophone Islam", which prompted some great discussions and debates.
I'm pleased to say it's now a peer-reviewed article in Contemporary Islam - open access and link here https://t.co/0W0dRkhQ4y
A new book, Muslim Wales by @AbdulAzim, highlights Lord Henry Stanley of Penrhos, diplomat to the Ottoman Empire, Muslim convert, and restorer of Anglesey churches, including Llanbadrig, which feature beautiful Islam-influenced stained glass windows. https://t.co/LLqPXB1YPX
This is a superbly entertaining and enjoyable book. It treats a space in Welsh history which is under-researched and has been treated as marginal; this brings Muslim Wales closer to the mainstream ✍️Desmond Clifford https://t.co/Q62cp5skNz
North Wales folks - I will be doing my first book talk on 'Muslim Wales - A History in 9 Places' next week on Thurs 23rd, 6.30pm at @PalasPrint. Please share with any interested colleagues and join if you can. @SerenBooks
I'm tired of hiding it, so I'm coming clean. I don't believe in quantitative methods. I view pollsters the same way I view court oracles who look at animal entrails and predict the King will die of consumption.
The row over the Trafalgar Square iftar has seen Jews and Christians coming to the defence of Muslims.
My thoughts on a fascinating and important trend:-

You know the loss of character counts is as integral to Twitter's decline as Elon Musk. Before, the racism had to boiled down to its very essence before posting, now I'm seeing lazy scatter gun racism, no class.
People may not be aware but Nick Timothy has form.
These are the discriminatory policies about Muslims, he advocated only a couple of years ago in The Telegraph

Ed Husain's 'Among the Mosques' is back in discussion. My favourite part of the book is when he admits to watching a young Muslim couple kiss in a car, only for them to stop when they see him leering at them. He takes this as a sign of extreme Muslim conservatism.
Islamism is a far-right ideology, not a faith.
Ed Husain’s conclusions are clear: map it, fund-blockade it, confront it and enforce the law.
Britain must stop appeasing extremists.
@Ed_Husain book Among the Mosques is a must read.
NB The problem is Islamists not moderate Muslims.
There's no point taking this commentary seriously or responding to it earnestly. Nick barely believes what he is saying himself, it's nothing more than a politics of emotion and vitriol. All performance, no substance.
Too many are too polite to say this.
But mass ritual prayer in public places is an act of domination.
The adhan - which declares there is no god but allah and Muhammad is his messenger - is, when called in a public place, a declaration of domination.
Perform these rituals in mosques if you wish. But they are not welcome in our public places and shared institutions.
And given their explicit repudiation of Christianity they certainly do not belong in our churches and cathedrals.
I am not suggesting everybody at Trafalgar Square last night is an Islamist. But the domination of public places is straight from the Islamist playbook.
Trafalgar Square belongs to all of us. It is a national memorial to our independence and our salvation.
Last night was not like a televised football match or a St Patrick’s Day celebration.
It was an act of domination and therefore division.
It shouldn’t happen again.
There is a relationship between the decline of unregulated noticeboards and the decline of civil society.
Bring back the massive, overpopulated, messy noticeboard.
@Adrian_Hilton To everyone who is familiar with religious education in Britain or who has read the guidance, your post is sadly a very clear and shameful example of jumping on the bandwagon of concocted outrage over Muslims.
If you're interested, I would love to have you join for the launch of Muslim Wales, Thurs 26th March, 7pm. Register tickets here https://t.co/PcCj9FtRnW
'Muslim Wales - A History in 9 Places' is now officially available for purchase!
I really want these stories out there, for the names of Welsh Muslim pioneers to be known, and for Wales' Islamic history to be celebrated.
Thank you to everyone who made this happen!
