To be candid, 85 candles will never be adequate in celebrating the birth anniversary of one of Nigeria's most senior citizens, patriot and statesman of the calibre of former military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (retired).
Sir, thank you for the sacrifice and love of country. Your long lasting legacy of keeping our country united, the massive investment in infrastructural and socio-economic developments, plus the visionary leadership of moving the nation's capital from Lagos to Abuja.
That aside, thank you for planting the nation-buiding trees that are currently providing shades to generations of Nigerian leaders. Your mentoring acumen and administrative prowess are both legendary and indelible.
Your unique mantra on anger management remains evergreen and advisorily remarkable as a monumental value addition to the body of human knowledge. It is worthy of repeat here:
_"Do not fight your seniors, because elders are not to be insulted; do not trade insults with juniors, because they don't have the experience that you have; and don't fight your mates, because there will always be places to meet."_
The pathfinder role of Your Excellency in the spheres of socio-economic and political lives of our countrymen and women showcased great vision, bravery and patriotic courage of a rare genius.
Despite being a military Head of State, your public relations driven interactions and persuasive engagements with people is a case study in intentional communication strategy. Our nation needs more of such wisdom.
Therefore, as the world celebrates your unique birth anniversary today, please continue to pray for the unity and prosperity of our dear country, especially in view of the precarious situations in our nation today, barely a few months from the general elections holding next year.
At 85, I would want to thank you for your immense and impactful contributions to the history and heritage of our dear country.
I also pray to Allah, that your existence continues to enjoy abundant blessings, longevity and a wealth of good health. More grace, steady pace and a continuous service to humanity, Your Excellency.
Happy birthday, Sir and multiple salutations to the People's witty General and a worthy statesman. -AA
‘The Arabs in old times used to say. Four things separate brothers: wealth, women, jealousy, and death. Four things make you lose your value among people: talking too much, laughing too much, lying and gossiping. Four things by which a wife ruins her home: stubbornness, anger, suspicion, and raising her voice. Four things by which a man ruins his home: distance, neglect, harshness, and stinginess.’
“The economy of Arewa once vibrant and strong is under severe structural strain. Widespread insecurity has crippled agriculture, pastoralism and rural commerce. Low educational attainment has put limits on productivity, while weak industrialisation and heavy fiscal dependence on federal allocations add to the milieu of problems.” – Ms. Kadaria Ahmed
@BashirAhmaad There is need in future to access how much carbon sequester by those Trees, in What quantities, in other to mitigate climate change emissions by avenue trees.

MALLAM NUHU RIBADU AT 65: A BROTHER, A BEACON, A BLESSING TO NIGERIA
At 65, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu remains one of the few Nigerians whose life story still stirs something deep within the soul. For me, this milestone is far more than a public celebration of a national figure; it is the birthday of a brother whose guidance has steadied me, a friend whose sincerity has lifted me, and an ally whose loyalty has strengthened my leadership in moments of profound uncertainty.
I have encountered many public servants in the course of my journey, but rarely have I met a man who embodies duty the way Mallam Nuhu Ribadu does. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu recently hailed him as a “principled reformer” and a “steadfast defender of Nigeria.” I echo these words not as mere praise, but as lived truth. Ribadu’s life is a testament to incorruptible service: from his historic tenure as the pioneer EFCC Chairman, where he confronted corruption with unmatched resolve, to his present role as National Security Adviser, where he works tirelessly to safeguard our nation with courage, discipline, and strategic depth.
But beyond titles and institutions, it is his humanity that leaves the strongest imprint on my heart. Mallam Ribadu is astonishingly self-effacing. He is a man who avoids fanfare, who enters rooms quietly through the backdoor, who prefers simplicity to grandeur, who seeks no applause even when his contributions are monumental. He is happiest not at the centre of attention, but in service; working, planning, securing, reforming.
His support to Kaduna State has been nothing short of brotherly. In our fierce battle to rescue our communities from insecurity, his door has never been closed; not once. He has stood with us with firmness, wisdom, and a sincerity that cannot be feigned. When the weight of leadership presses heavily, his counsel offers clarity; when the security situation becomes tense, his intervention brings calm; when hope seems threatened, his reassurance restores it.
I have also seen in him a rare loyalty to his friends, to institutions, and above all to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Mallam Ribadu embodies the purity of commitment: no double-speak, no half-measures, no wavering. His devotion to the Renewed Hope Agenda is anchored in shared conviction and genuine patriotism.
As he turns 65 years old today, I celebrate not just the public figure, but the man: courageous, humble, disciplined, fiercely loyal, and profoundly patriotic. A man whose friendship I treasure, whose character I admire, and whose example strengthens my resolve to serve Kaduna State with honesty and courage.
May Almighty Allah bless my brother, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, with long life, strength, and endless grace. Nigeria still needs him. I still need him. And history will forever honour him.

Following some complaints presented to us, today we carried out an on-the-spot inspection of some of the areas where we are beautifying roads with trees. During the visit, we assessed their current condition and established appropriate measures to ensure their proper health and sustainability.
I want to assure everyone that we will not allow these trees to wither due to lack of water, disease, or damage caused by animals or humans. At present, His Excellency, the Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has provided modern tree watering machines that will be used to water the trees across the state. We are also putting in place measures to guarantee the protection and sustainability of this important initiative, while ensuring a healthier and greener environment throughout Kano State.
We call on the good people of Kano to continue supporting us by reporting any challenges encountered and refraining from acts that may damage or undermine this environmental development effort.
May Allah continue to bless our dear State, Kano. Ameen.
Dr. Dahir M. Hashim
Commissioner for Environment and Climate Change, Kano State
