Yasiin Xuuf is a former Minnesota resident who left the United States in 2023 and joined the SSC-Khatumo militia, where he commanded forces in the Battle of Las Anod (Laascaanood).
One of Xuuf's fellow commanders is General Abdi Madobe, whom the UN identified as an Al-Shabaab commander who led approximately 200 fighters in the region. This raises the question of whether Xuuf is (or should be) on the no-fly list.
Mahmoud Omar Isse is the Khaatumo government’s senior representative in the U.S. so it's likely Xuff coordinated with Isse to join the Katumo militia.
A central unanswered question is what Xuuf was doing before 2023 that enabled him to travel to Somalia and take a leadership role in a foreign militia so quickly. This only makes sense if he had prior training or experience.
Do you think the Khaatumo military is concerned Xuuf would be detained immediately if he returned to the United States. Perhaps he can't leave now.
I'll be learning more above this guy in the coming days.
Please share any information you have on Yasiin Xuuf.

6. Imisa sanno weeye heshiisku?
7. Goormaa dhismaha la bilaabayaaya, goormuu se dhammanayaa?

Strong words from Sen. Ted Cruz in Fox News:
“There is a very real opportunity that President Trump will recognize Somaliland during this administration.”
“President Trump is bringing a new era of clarity in American national security, after four years of the Biden administration rewarding our enemies and punishing our allies, and recognizing Somaliland should be part of this new era.”

Recognizing Somaliland isn’t just about justice it’s about strategy. A democratic ally at the Horn of Africa strengthens stability, counters China’s influence, and resists Somalia’s expansionist agenda. The time to act is now. #Somaliland#Geopolitics

For almost three decades I have studied & written about #Somaliland & how it can advance key #USA🇺🇲 interests, but for those who are just discovering this wonderful strategic oasis thanks to @POTUS’s comment last week @RepKeefe’s🧵 makes a succinct case for doing the right thing.
President Trump says:
“It’s time to recognize Somaliland as a separate, sovereign country from Somalia.”
(We post this article because Taiwan and Somaliland have close ties. #Somaliland is one of twelve countries worldwide that recognize #Taiwan as an independent country!)
#VoiceOfTheGlobalSouth | Somaliland’s Push for Independence. As U.S.-China tensions rise, Somaliland’s quest for recognition is heating up. With ties to Taiwan & the strategic Berbera port, will global powers back its independence or risk a regional shake-up?
