Canadian soldier Mark Anthony Graham was killed on Sept 4, 2006 in Afghanistan. He and 158 of our fellow Canadians died fighting to protect the U.S. after it was attacked on September 11th. Canada wasn’t attacked that day but we were the 1st to answer America’s call for help. 🇨🇦

Captain Nichola Goddard was killed on May 17, 2006 in Afghanistan fighting to protect the American people after they were attacked on 9/11.

She was 16th Canadian killed in Afghanistan and the first Canadian woman to be killed in combat.

We remember her and our 158 Canadians.🇨🇦

At 29 years old, Ty Carter found himself trapped at the bottom of an Afghan valley as roughly 300 enemy fighters attacked from the mountains on every side.

On October 3, 2009, Carter was a Specialist and cavalry scout defending Combat Outpost Keating in Nuristan Province when the outpost came under an enormous coordinated assault. Only 53 American soldiers were defending the position. Carter sprinted about 100 metres through concentrated enemy fire to reach a forward fighting position, then crossed the same exposed ground again to retrieve ammunition and supplies. Rocket propelled grenades struck the position and wounded him with shrapnel, but he remained in the fight. Armed with his M4, Carter helped stop enemy fighters who had breached the outpost and continued firing as the battle raged around him.

Then he saw fellow soldier Stephan Mace lying critically wounded in the open. Despite machine gun and rocket propelled grenade fire sweeping the area, Carter left cover and reached him. He provided emergency first aid, recovered a radio needed to coordinate their evacuation and, with Sergeant Bradley Larson, carried Mace roughly 100 metres through enemy fire to the aid station. Carter then returned to the battle. Eight American soldiers were killed that day and more than 25 were wounded, but the outpost held. Nearly four years later, President Barack Obama presented Ty Carter with the Medal of Honor for repeatedly risking his life to defend his position and save his fellow soldiers.

Joey was 19 years old and from Nebo, North Carolina. 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault). Remember Joey.🇺🇸

🇺🇸 STAFF SERGEANT ROBERT H. COX

2nd Marine Raider Battalion — Camp Lejeune, North Carolina May 11, 1989 – July 10, 2017

He began his career as a Reservist and served as a field radio operator before deploying to Iraq with 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marines. He later served with 3rd Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company and deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

In 2013, he successfully completed MARSOC Assessment and Selection and went on to graduate from the Marine Special Operations School's Individual Training Course. He subsequently completed Arabic language training and became a Critical Skills Operator with 2nd Marine Raider Battalion at Camp Lejeune.

He deployed to Lebanon in 2016 in support of counterterrorism operations and continued advanced military training.

On July 10, 2017, Staff Sgt. Cox was one of six Marines and one Navy Sailor from 2nd Marine Raider Battalion killed when a KC-130T crashed in Leflore County, Mississippi. The aircraft was carrying the Raiders to Arizona for preemployment training.

Rest in peace, Marine.
