The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.
C. S. Lewis
“Guns, Germs & Steel” was one of only 3 books in my entire life that I couldn’t finish. It’s that bad. Here’s the synopsis:
In the opening chapter he clearly states That he believes the 5’ tall Stone Age Pygmies of Papua New Guinea are more intelligent than Europeans. His rationale? He hung out with them and felt like it because they knew all the types of plants, and also their kids didn’t have TVs (I’m not kidding).
He also observed that unlike Europeans, they were constantly hacking each other to death with crude instruments. Which leads him to believe that they evolved to be smarter, because you need intelligence to survive permanent tribal warfare. Unlike cooperative farming. I really wish I was kidding about this.
He concludes therefore that any and all modern differences in technology and wealth are the result strictly of environmental factors. He spends the next 400 pages desperately cooking up insanely convoluted theories about why living in a food scarce frozen wasteland actually gives people far more free time to invent things than eating an inexhaustible supply of bananas on a tropical island would.
Now I’m a based millennial, I’ve built a fairly thick skin against “college guy” hunter gatherer fetishism. I was born into it, molded by it. I rose out of it like Bane from the pit of darkness. I can listen to Dr.Sternberg do a 60 minute lecture on why potions made from boiling albino babies are every bit as advanced as penicillin, I wouldn’t even feel a thing.
I still couldn’t finish this book…
Unlike Malcolm Galdwell, he didn’t even bother to make his slop fun to read. That’s honestly the most offensive part. If you’re not going to tell the truth, at least tell a fucking joke.
This, not appearance alone, is the point people are making.
The jury was composed - taking those we've seen as typical - mostly of menopausal-age, middle-middle class, liberal-coded white women - who literally had the same faux-blonde hair color and started wearing pink to court together.
What did pros. think was going to happen here?
🚨 Our race is in play!
Minnesotans are fed up with billions in taxpayer dollars being stolen while the people in charge refuse to take responsibility.
Peggy Flanagan is the sitting lieutenant governor while criminals were stealing billions from Minnesota taxpayers.
She doesn’t get to walk away from that record.
Minnesotans deserve accountability. They deserve leadership. And they deserve better.
This race is wide open. Let’s win it!
Basically correct.
It would be insanely easy for me to break down my 2-3 executive-level jobs into a list of "100 acts of labor" that I do daily - but this would be performative and crazy.

The restaurant was Chez Jo Goldenberg, in the Marais, August 9, 1982. Grenades and guns on a lunch crowd. Six people killed, twenty-two wounded.
It was the worst attack on Jews in France since World War Two. Investigators tied it to Abu Nidal, the faction that had split from Arafat and made a habit of hitting Jews in European cities.

In 2019, a retired French spy chief finally said it. Yves Bonnet had run domestic intelligence in the early 1980s.
He told a judge that after Palestinian gunmen shot up a Jewish restaurant in Paris, France cut a verbal deal with their people. No more attacks on French soil. In return they could still come to France, and nobody would touch them.

Before you take a European speech about Israel at face value, remember this…
In the 1980s, more than one European government cut a deal with Palestinian terrorists:
“Do what you want to the Jews, just spare our soil, and we will look the other away.”
Jewish restaurants and synagogues were on that soil. They looked away anyway.
A democratic republic entails crimes being judged by citizens chosen at random
Anarchism does not provide for this

Apparently the new frontier of fascism is leg day.
Beatrice Adler-Bolton stood at Socialism 2026 and warned the Left against trying to become “fitter, more eugenic” than fascists. Her answer was even better: “In fact, the more dysgenic, the better. I think.”
There it is. Peak politics in 2026. Build muscle? Suspicious. Improve your health? Careful, comrade. Get off the couch, eat better, need fewer pills, and suddenly somebody with a podcast is checking your squat rack for signs of authoritarianism.
You could not parody this crowd harder than they parody themselves.
The joke gets even better when you follow the logic. The same people who sneer at fitness culture somehow end up worshiping the giant machinery of public health. More programs. More experts. More official medicine. More mandates when the next emergency arrives.
Then RFK Jr. says Americans might benefit from better food, more exercise, and less dependence on medication, and the alarms start screaming.
Ruth Ben-Ghiat warns about “mass disease and loss.” Critics talk like a morning walk and a salad are the opening moves in a coup.
Imagine explaining this to your grandfather.
“Sorry, Pop, push-ups are problematic now. Your healthy breakfast reinforces capitalist body norms. Also, please wait for the government-approved expert to explain why you need three more prescriptions.”
This ideology has managed to turn ordinary self-care into political theater.
Run a mile. Lift a weight. Cook real food. Sleep better. Take control of your own health.
Congratulations.
You are now one protein shake away from being called a fascist.

The EU looks to Israel to strengthen its high-tech air defense and space capabilities—even as 11 European countries announce sanctions on Israel.
Europe wants Israeli technology to help defend itself against Putin while browbeating Israel into accepting a Palestinian terror state.
That contradiction won’t hold.
Man, this case just keeps making me more and more vindicated. I would like a written apology from everybody who thinks I’ve been unfair or mean to women. If anything, I haven’t been mean enough.
