अभी समाज की सबसे बड़ी खबर यह थी। खासकर अरबन मिडिल क्लास की। बंगलेरू में इसरो में वैज्ञानिक रहे 77 साल के नागेश्वर राव ने अपनी पत्नी संध्या को गोली मार दी। कोई मनमुटाव नहीं। सबकुछ ठीक था। बस नागेश्वर को इस बात को डर था कि कुछ दिनों में उनकी मौत के बाद उनकी अकेली पत्नी का क्या होगा। उनका कोई रिश्तेदार नहीं था। एक बेटी है जो अमेरिका में थी। वह पत्नी को गोली मारने के बाद सुसाइड करना चाहते थे। लेकिन हिम्मत नहीं जुटा पाए ताे पुलिस के सामने खुद चले गये और पूरी बात बता दी। इस घटना के बीच बेटी को अपनी मां के अंतिम संस्कार में आने के लिए बंगलेरू पुलिस ने जानकारी दी। लेकिन पहले बेटी ने कहा कि देखते हैं,फिर मना कर दिया कि अभी इंडिया आने का उसके पास विंडो नहीं है।

यह घटना कितनी क्रूर है। आज की कड़वी हकीकत है। आज कितने नागेश्वर-संध्या इसी दशा में जी रहे हैं।

जो आज इनके बेटे-बेटी की भूमिका में है वह भी डरें,क्योंकि कल वह यही बनेंगे।

पिछले दिनों इकोनॉमिस्ट ने एक कवर स्टेारी की थी। उसके अनुसार इस सदी की सबसे बड़ी बीमारी और सबसे बड़ा कष्ट बन कर सामने आ रहा है-मृ़त्यू का इंतजार। आंकड़ा देकर बताया गया कि किस तरह यूरोप,अमेरिका जैसे देशा में मृत्यू का इंतजार सबसे बड़े ट्रामा बन रहा है। मेडिकल-इलाज और दूसरे साधन से इंसान की उम्र बढ़ी लेकिन अकेले लड़ने की क्षमता उतनी ही रही। यह घटनाएं है कीमत है विकास की। कीमत है अपग्रेडेशन की। कीमत है उस एरोगेंस की जब कई लोगों को लगता है कि वक्त उनके लिए ठहर कर रहेगा। बुजुर्गों की देखभाल की समस्या समाज में पहले से है लेकिन जैसे लोगों के जीने की उम्र बढ़ रही है और परिवार छोटा होता जा रहा है,यह और बड़ी समस्या बनेगी! और अब यह समस्या और बीमारी शहर से लेकर गांवों तक पसर गया है।
