Even though they might share similar views on providing health care to people, I think it is interesting that Catholics are more opposed to providing aid to people who are responsible for their own health problems. I wonder how this applies to mental health. #rlst305b
Women as fetal containers is a good way to descriplbe society's view of women. When a woman gets pregnant and has a child, she is expected to devote her whole being to the child and take on the identity of "mom", losing her personal identity. #rlst305b
I have never really thought about how easily testing in developing countries can be used to manipulate. It's a scary thought that these people might be purposefully misinformed about experiments they take part in. Making guidelines for experimenting will be beneficial. #rlst305b
The establishment of the Nuremberg code is an important event. After all the atrocities performed in WW2 with human experiments we really needed to address the problem and make sure it would not happen again. the APA also later added to these guidelines #RLST305b
I saw a lot of the themes we talked about in class in lissa. One was the treatment of the body after death. Layla's mom criticizes Anna's family for creating her mom so layla reminds her mom that there are differences between cultures and no one is inherently right. #rlst305b
In a class earlier, we talked about organ donors, and if it's okay to take someone's organs to save 5 other people who need them, even if they aren't a donor. This seems similar to the vehicle tests in that the body was used but could not give its consent to the tests. #rlst305b
presidents commission: I thought of two concepts. One is the fact that society may have a "lower brain" through medicine that lets us live longer and healthier. The other is concept of souls. How a dead person was defined sounded like someone's soul left their body. #RLST305B
The RDE is an interesting topic. The four conditions that have to be met in order to justify a certain action mend together very well and it is a good baseline on which to judge an act. But, there are many cases where these conditions would be a gray area.

I believe that the pro-choice for suicide has very valid arguments in the Gonzalves article. As stated as an argument against the right to choice, I don't think that it is a cowardly thing at all, and ultimately, one can decide what to do with their own life. #rlst305b
When reading about the two different types of paternalism and how they interact with the duty to respect autonomy and types of consent, I realized that decisions should be culturally respectful and made on a case by case basis.
