@the_transit_guy Way too reductive. There were many reasons behind the creation of freeways.
All of these reasons were very ill advised. But it wasn't just some conspiracy with one specific end goal.

I wonder if any mainstream movie, show, video game, album, or book has ever been banned or censored in any western country due to violating hate speech laws.
Other than how Germany used to censor video games containing swastikas.
@WalPerMott@LurkGod_@river_is_nice Americans drive more but don't travel more. Europeans actually have way more vacation time.
Also, that is a great argument for having more public transit.

Nearly every US state has a significantly higher homicide rate than nearly every EU country
Hot take: Being entitled isn't always a bad thing.
A lot of society's problems stem from people settling for less.
Although it really depends in what regard.
@RealChuckM@FatherForgiv3Me@FortySacks Yeah, there was a lot of that sort of thing 10 or 20 years ago, but I don't see many people who want an unironic absolute one-drop rule nowadays.
If the US is so wealthy according to all the MAGA types on Twitter, then why are so many of them obviously poor or at best lower middle class according to the things they say?
