People always ask “which app is best?”

My honest answer is the one you understand deeply beats the one you use casually.

Master your tool. Don’t just use it.

3 things that separate a good editor from a great one:
1.They edit the story, not just the footage.
2.They think about the viewer, not just the client.
3.They know when to cut and when to hold.
You can learn software in months but developing taste takes years.

The first video I ever edited was terrible.
Wrong cuts. Ugly fonts. Audio all over the place.
I posted it anyway.
That courage to post ugly work is what got me to where I am today.
Start bad. Improve loudly.

Be serious. Editing is not “press export.” It’s storytelling, color grading, sound design, revisions, brain work.

You can watch a 4K video with bad sound and you'll turn it off in 5 seconds. You can watch a 720p video with great sound and you'll watch the whole thing.

Audio is 70% of the "vibe." If you aren't spending time on room tone and subtle SFX, your edits will always feel "cheap."

Now I use Gling or Descript and do it in 10 minutes.
AI isn’t taking my job, it’s just taking away the parts of my job that made me want to jump out of a window. Use the tools, save your sanity.
