In 1974, Marina Abramović stood still for six hours and let strangers do anything they wanted to her.
The performance was called Rhythm 0.
Beside her was a table with 72 objects.
Some were harmless: a rose, feathers, honey, bread, wine, and perfume.
Others were weapons: scissors, knives, razor blades, chains, a whip, and a loaded gun.
At first, people treated her gently. They gave her flowers, kissed her, and moved her body like she was a doll.
Then they realized she would not resist.
The crowd began cutting off her clothes, touching her, writing on her skin, and using blades on her body.
Someone cut her neck and drank her blood.
Near the end, a person placed the loaded gun in her hand, pointed it at her head, and pushed her finger toward the trigger.
A fight broke out between spectators. Some wanted the performance to continue, while others realized someone might actually pull the trigger.
That was the moment the room split between those willing to hurt her and those trying to stop it.
When the six hours ended, Abramović started walking toward the audience.
Many of the same people who had touched, humiliated, and hurt her turned away and left, unable to face her as a real person again.
"Arresting Black people for robbery, drugs, rape, violence, and murder by putting them in prison is racism. Plain and simple. Prison is not the answer. Freedom is." ~Brandon Johnson.
So, letting them run free to commit more crimes and loss of life makes more sense?
There should be a litmus test to be in government.
Malcolm X Day…
“We won't organize any Black man to be a Democrat or a Republican because both of them have sold us out. Both of them have sold us out; both parties have sold us out. Both parties are racist, and the Democratic Party is more racist than the Republican Party.”
