Academic psychologists, how did you consider family planning in terms of your career?
Were there especially good or bad times to be pregnant/have a child?
What advice would you give to early career scholars who want to plan ahead (as a person, partner, parent, & academic)?
This is how you implement an inclusive conference for an #AcademicMama - a livestream of the auditorium with an infant play area & toys in front of it. This sends such a powerful message. Great job @Infantstudies#ICIS2024@Momademia
#maternityleave should not require 2 years of strategically banking 160+ vacation hours in order to get paid.
The reality of #motherhood in #academia. We’re supposed to be leaders in progressive policy, this is just sad.
I will die on this hill.

Drove 4.5 hours just to have babysitters to watch 2yo so I can cram edits into my first R01... gotta do what you gotta do. 😅 So grateful to my amazing mentors for all the helpful suggestions- the extensive re-writing I am doing is a lesson for future grants! You learn by doing.
An absolute new career highlight:
Got to give a lesson on the heart to pre-k kids at my toddler’s classroom.
Proud @Momademia moment and real gratitude that I get to share a little bit of what I heart with my daughter.
Just left for 2weeks of international fieldwork with a crying toddler having very rough nights. Seriously rethinking the viability of continuing doing field research (I'm in geography). What did you do when your kids were small? @Momademia@AcademicChatter
In light of a certain news story this week, I’m looking to interview academic mothers for a piece on the joint pressures of academia and motherhood. Get in touch.
I bring my daughters a cookie with sprinkles to share every time I travel to give a talk. So I am trying not to be offended that my 3-year-old just enthusiastically inquired about whether I have any upcoming travel plans.
My daughter came with me to the lab on Monday since it was a holiday here and school was closed. She played with my science Legos in the office and left me her construction of how she sees me working. 😍 #AcademicMom#WomenInScience@AcademicMamas
My kid, years ago, age 8, guessing what my email to my "boss" would say: the human body development because statistics... blah blah blah students, blah blah blah, department head.
