Switch off & unplug appliances like TVs, washing machines & tumble dryers that aren’t designed to be left switched on. It’s especially important when you’re sleeping, or out of the house.

Thanks to all who made it happen.👏🚒👏🚒
Please think before you make a malicious call to the fire service, or any emergency service. It costs time and even lives. @AberdeenCPolice @AberdeenCC@NHSGrampian@Scotambservice
Make sure you have working smoke and heat alarms. Test them once a week.

Talk to young people about safety around water. They should never swim in an unsupervised area like lochs, rivers, sea or ponds where there isn’t an adult to help if they get into trouble.

We were called to tackle more than 3,000 deliberate fires across Scotland last summer.
That's more than 3,000 occasions where our firefighters could have been elsewhere.
We all have a role to play in changing this.

It’s easy to be distracted when cooking. It’s easy for a cooking fire start. It only takes a minute.
If you’re tired, you’ve been drinking alcohol or taking drugs, don’t cook. Never leave a chip pan unattended.

Cigarette ends can smoulder undetected for hours if not put out properly. If you're tired or have been drinking it's safer to smoke outside or standing at an open window or external door.

Inflatables can be fun but keep them for the pool. They can easily get swept out to sea by winds and currents, this risks the lives of those using inflatables and the responders that come to help #BeWaterAware#RespectTheWater
Inflatables and light boats can get swept away in seconds. Always wear a buoyancy aid in or around water - think about currents and tides – you can’t always see them.
Make sure someone knows where you are - maintain line of sight with someone on the shore.
