@JeremySCook were in those cases you can get little sparks from a sheeld tuching a case dew to differend vertual gnd and earth gnd voltages while connecting it , and shocks also

ha yea ,, the spec in this case says connect together , but the issue is the distinction between sheild and gnd , and that depends a lot on the item your desinging it for ,, if the item has a case gnd at earth but a separate signal gnd it normaly would need the sheeld to be at earth not gnd , and that is something that may need attention if your system is using earth gnd casings , where you would actualy need to ensure the sheld is isloated from the case , otherwise you may end up with earth loops and high currents that can be quite a pain to resolve especialy between a group of items connected with differing earth and internal gnd voltages in reltion to that , ( that in some cases can be as high as the mains voltage )

@JeremySCook in 90% of cases it wont matter , given the device is often powered though the usb lead , and the extra gnd of the cable sheeld usefull but where say its the usb control input to a 19" rack mount amp or other self powered device it starts to become an issue

how you going to mange it , have call centers in india to handle all the help and support lines , the checks run on servers based in china as we dont have the infrastucture in the uk to handle the monitoring of it , and would take another 10 years to build it here in the uk

the bigest scam with it is , its not that the gov cant access the info anyway , so why would you need a another way where it could be ,, so that unvetted 3rd party companies and countries can access that info leglay the bit you hide , and the bit that if they did know what the fuck went on behinde your closed dores then yea i expect that would be a treat to your made out innocence of it
