Q: If HMRC can access PAYE information from my employer in order to make deductions from my universal credit allowance, based on my earnings for March (including pay period), why can they not use this same information to verify a furlough claim on … #AskRishi
- @HanMitchell
A:
#AskRishi when will you reconsider the CJRS requirement to have RTI submission prior to 19th March to help hundreds of thousands of #newstarters and their employers who are struggling? #newstarterjustice
It is indeed inadequate! Great to have @KateOsborneMP helping to fight the cause. For some this is really getting desperate as most streams of support are not available to many. Let's keep up the fight for #newstarterjustice
This is the response to my letter calling for the government to extend the #JobRetentionScheme to take into account those who have recently started new jobs and those who are paid monthly.
It’s inadequate and I will be following it up. #newstarterfurlough
Can you watch this and agree that 'no one has been left behind'? Yes there has been lots of help, but for hundreds of thousands these stories are all too real: https://t.co/oLOTe3gPjJ #newstarterjustice
While that is really great news for those who qualified, what about the hundreds of thousands branded as trade offs? Please take a few minutes to watch this news story. https://t.co/oLOTe3gPjJ #newstarterjustice
1/ The job retention scheme will be extended, for four months, until the end of October.
By that point, we will have provided eight months of support to British people and businesses. Until the end of July, there will be no changes to the scheme whatsoever.
My questions to economists @CommonsTreasury on the shape of UK's economic recovery & the vital need for government to support those left out of the Job Retention Scheme @NewStarterJust and the 640,000 young people now at risk of unemployment. https://t.co/s2er7eK02r
While "not giving up" on people there is still no acknowledgement of the hundreds of thousands in limbo as they started in March but had not yet gone through the payroll. The "trade offs". What about them? #newstarterjustice
I won’t give up on the people who rely on the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.
We stood behind Britain's workers and businesses as we came into this crisis, and we will stand behind them as we come through the other side.

Great to see what the government has done to help. But what about the "trade offs". The hundreds of thousands of new starters who missed out on furlough pay & are living on nothing. Please sign and help #newstarters https://t.co/HRzAIkkcJu
Almost 700k business premises have benefited from our grants scheme so far - with more than £8.6bn paid out already. #Coronavirus

@andrealeadsom never give up said her majesty the other day. The #newstarters are doing just that, only with despair. Please help raise the issue to the Chancellor. #newstarterjustice https://t.co/HRzAIkkcJu
@david4wantage great to see all the support from the Government so far but would like to ask for some to be given to the hundreds of thousands of #newstarters who missed out! Please sign and share https://t.co/HRzAIkkcJu
Great that they are extending it, but what about the ones who started the jobs in March at the start of the season and will more months without? When will the Government support the #newstarterfurlough
We’re hearing that the Chancellor will announce an extension of the Job Retention Scheme till September, as early as tomorrow. This is welcome news but the treasury must sustain 80% wages support. Workers are already struggling on this.
Yes I am, and I’ve already pledged my support. I continue to be contacted by constituents missing out because the Chancellor continues to pay attention to the wrong sort of detail. A signed contract should be enough - the Chancellor should do ‘whatever it takes’ to fix this.
Even less purchasing power when hundreds of thousands of new starters missed out on furlough pay and some don't qualify for UC. #newstarterjustice#forgotten time to give them some help!
Economics of Madhouse: UK considers wage cut for 6.3m people on furlough - plans to reduce pay to 60%.
Economic recovery depends on masses having good purchasing power.
60% of minimum wage = starvation.
Govt using the crisis to drive down wages.
