ACNA posted this in its FAQ on Sept. 23. It now reads less like guidance and more like an indictment —particularly of their own archbishop, Steve Wood, who was inhibited on Nov. 16, 2025.

ACNA, if you have to ask... maybe it's because you've made a mockery of the disciplinary process? Because Foley Beach screwed up Stewart Ruch's investigation and Steve Wood continues to mess up the trial? It starts at the top.
#Anglican#Gafcon#ACNAToo#Gafcon23
Did the ACNA Bishops just cancel out an upcoming election entirely between Ben Sharpe and Russell Martin? So much fluff from Julian Dobbs it's hard to tell what's really going on here in Western Gulf Coast.

Be patient with Phil, everyone. He's still learning on the job. He really had no idea that his opinion as advisor to Archbishop Steve Wood would be taken quite so seriously.
@lancelormand Bishop Ashey does not seem like a serious person. He degrades & demonizes abuse victims while flaunting a supposed exoneration of the archbishop. I'm not sure how he expects anyone to take his authority as a church leader seriously or to offer him the respect his office deserves.
New for @Livng_Church: The Anglican Diocese of South Carolina calls for the release of documents related to the trial of ACNA Bishop Stewart Ruch as the church's fraught process for revising Title IV comes to a vote.

The standing committee of the ACNA Diocese of South Carolina announces submission of resolutions for consideration at Provincial Council to release the transcript of the Ruch trial & provincial review findings, intention to build a coalition, and criticism of Bp Ashey's remarks:
Phil Ashey serving as canonical advisor to the archbishop is like watching someone build the airplane after takeoff. But, he's still learning, folks so give him some grace.

.@VirtueOnline reports a retraction by Bp Phil Ashey of several public comments made concerning the trial of ACNA Abp Steve Wood, its timeline surrounding reporting by @washingtonpost, its reactions in the College of Bishops, and its complainants: 🧵

The Court will hold hearings this week on motions in preparation for Wood's July trial, including a request that it be closed to the public. #TheLivingChurch#News#ACNA

This question also extends to Clark Lowenfield's Western Gulf Coast Diocese which is electing a bishop. Their ASA is 1621 but for how much longer? How on earth they were allowed to elect a second bishop is a mystery.
#Anglican#Gafcon#Gafcon23#ACNAToo
@AggieShadows You are correct. The 1621 is the most current ASA for Western Gulf Coast. The 2025 report that was released is really data from 2024. The 1359 figure was really from 2022. It's really just a few large churches holding this diocese together? This is not sustainable.
@mugjudge@RNS He is an Anglican and in North America and needed ecclesial oversight. Though he was ordained C of E, he could not maintain licensure from England as Tory Baucum tried that to avoid being under John Guernsey. Probably how he ended up in ACNA. Plus, the "star power" from Ravi Z.
Sam Allberry, according to this @RNS story, is still an ACNA priest but discarded by Clark Lowenfield as Canon Theologian.
#Anglican#Gafcon#Gafcon23#ACNAToo
(RNS) — Sam Allberry is a pastor and apologist who teaches that God designs sex and marriage to occur exclusively between a man and a woman. https://t.co/0vlHMPhSg3
Though Clark Lowenfield quietly discarded Sam Allberry as Canon Theologian, this is the proper response. It is also worth pointing out that Sam's local church is ministering to him as well.
#Anglican#Gafcon#Gafcon23#ACNAToo
I’m praying for Sam Allberry today as a large part of the evangelical world publicly dumps on him as if they are not wretched sinners in need of God’s grace.
A pastor’s response to sin should be like that of Jesus in the entirety of John 8.1-11.
Though Clark Lowenfield has quietly discarded Sam Allberry as Canon Theologian, this is worth pointing out: that Sam is being cared for by the local church. Sadly, there is no more celebrity star power in it for Clark to have Sam around.
#Anglican#Gafcon#Gafcon23#ACNAToo
Throughout this process, Sam has been repentant, humble, and cooperative with the Elders and
outside counsel. The Elders continue to care for Sam as a brother in Christ and Member of Immanuel.
We will continue to support Sam and the other party with counseling, and we are determined in so far
as we are able to “restore him in a spirit of gentleness” to full fellowship in the church (Galatians 6:1).
...Meanwhile sinful X rushes to dunk on fellow sinner.
Fresh off his godly admonition from Bishop Chris Warner, John Yates continues his speaking engagements this time to seminarians after talking to Foley Beach’s clergy on retreat a while back. Wonder what the topics were discussed for seminarians? How NOT to supervise staff?
ACNA NEWS: On May 7, the Court for the Trial of a Bishop will begin hearing motions from both sides in the matter of Abp Steve Wood. Motions include one from Wood to hold the trial privately ("in camera"), and one from the province to disqualify Jeff Weber as Wood's defense. 🧵
ACNA news: the trial of Abp Steve Wood is scheduled to begin July 20, according to the Court for the Trial of a Bishop. The court will first hear arguments on a motion from Abp Wood to dismiss on May 7.
The Anglican Diocese of South Carolina is asking good questions of ACNA. ACNA seems to be more concerned with keeping the discussion in house: https://t.co/I9cpz9AQUy
Re: ACNA lawsuits. For years we've been told that the unusual ACNA governance structure was due to the use of the law to bludgeon orthodox clergy and parishes out of TEC. Putting aside whether that's true, it's curious that the minute things threaten episcopal power, ACNA bishops do the same! More of the flat circle thing.
Been thinking about the Dobbs and Jones lawsuits in ACNA. Everyone's back from Abuja, still no public comment from the province or College of Bishops. "Let's ignore it and it will go away" seems to be the ACNA default in governance matters. Sadly indifferent.
Two thoughts: Bishop Dobbs owes the Province a biblical explanation for his lawsuit, and the College of Bishops must overcome their collegial inertia and make a statement about the lawsuit and the status of their previously announced support for the acting archbishop.
This is the guy suing Derek Jones. Julian Dobbs is easily offended - just like Foley Beach. Their fragile egos were in the midst of (mis)handling the Ruch investigation in 2024 but on a side quest of reconciliation because they offended each other. It's like Mean Girls.
Also, the Holy Principle of Subsidiarity does not apply to the Butthurt of The Right Reverend Bishops of the ACNA. Their little feelings get hurt so very easily. Sometimes they need to hug it out. Because their words hurt each other so. #Anglican#Gafcon23#ACNAToo
