John Nelson on the changes that were made to the strength and conditioning program:
"I think we're working smarter. Obviously, you want to be a strong football player, but it got to the point where we would do too much and guys would get injured. Now, we've put emphasis on reaching a certain strength level and then working smarter and getting faster. That's the difference between the NFL and college. Everyone's strong in college, but the NFL players are strong, fast, and athletic so we're trying to emulate that in our training."

I’m humbled and grateful to represent Salem Hills basketball on the Region 9 First Team selection. Thank you to my coaches, teammates and Skyhawk Nation for a great season! @hills_salem @CriddleBenjamin @TotalBlueSports@BYUfootball
.@casey_lundquist on his favorite player heading into spring football:
"I'm intrigued to see what John Nelson looks like in this new scheme. He had moments of brilliance last year. ... He has an intriguing skillset to me, and I'm interested to see how he does in the new scheme."
.@Action_Jax44 on why he's pursuing football over basketball:
"With football, I just feel like I have a lot of connection to the sport. I am good at both sports but I feel like I have more potential in football. You cannot turn down a great opportunity to play for the Cougars."
. @Action_Jax44 on how it feels to be committed to #BYU:
"It feels great. It's a great opportunity. It's going to take a lot of hard work. My brother, John [Nelson], is helping me in a few days and I'm excited about that. I'm really excited."
BYU downs LMU 67-42
Lauren Gustin finished with 21 points and 16 rebounds against LMU, she now has 409 total points and 411 total rebounds this season
No other player in the NCAA has those stats — men or women.
#BYU lands 6’7” athlete Jackson Nelson of Salem Hills:
“I went to the BYU football camp last summer as a QB. Coach Tuiaki saw me during the drills and scrimmages and approached me and asked if I would consider playing another position at BYU like TE, DL or even OL.”
