Caught up with the Salem Sandman yesterday after practice.
BYU defensive tackle John Nelson has been a huge part of the success of this BYU defense this year.
☑️ how did he spend the bye week and what did he work on?
☑️ what would attribute the success of the BYU defense to this year?
☑️ why Blake Mangelson, Tyler Batty and himself are contributing at a high level this season.
Thank you so much @RossApoWR_EZ You’ve helped @Action_Jax44 take some “giant steps” in his development. To see Jackson’s progress since he started training with you is AMAZING. You knew exactly how to customize each session and could see Jackson’s potential. @CriddleBenjamin
6’7 - 240lbs🦍
#BYU Commit (@Action_Jax44) has been developing a whole new skillset🎒
Working on a time crunch, so Jackson has had to learn techniques, movements, body control/position, & route running all in 1🤯
Intentional work=Intentional results📈

Dave Nelson, the father of John Nelson, on if he thinks the #BYU defensive line will be a factor tonight:
"I think so. I think with the new scheme, we're getting a lot of pressure and they're holding their own. I think tonight we're going to see a great defensive effort. It's going to be, in my estimation, like what we saw in the first two games where the defense will have a lot of energy and bring a lot of pressure and I think the Cougars will get the win tonight."

Thank you SO much @RossApoWR_EZ for training, coaching and inspiring @Action_Jax44. You have customized Jackson’s workouts to improve his footwork, route running and hips so he can move his 6’7 frame like a receiver. You’re the best! @CriddleBenjamin
6’7 - 240lbs (@Action_Jax44)👀
#BYU commit, Jackson Nelson, a QB converted to TE or possibly even OL.
Still have lots more work to put in, but Jackson has improved in every area of movement📈
🏁Few more months to go🏁

At #24, it's John Nelson. The junior DT started 11 games in 2022, tallying 28 tackles, 6 TFLs, and 3 sacks. At 6'4, 275 pounds, Nelson has dreams of following his cousin, Porter Gustin, to the NFL. #30Cougs30Days#GoCougs#BYUFootball
.@Action_Jax44 on his brother, John Nelson:
"He's a hard worker and he's someone I look up to. He teaches me good lessons like working hard, especially in the classroom. ... He's a good guy off the field but when it comes to on the field, he wants to be a monster and tear it up.
. @kona_wilson on #BYU DL John Nelson:
"I think what stands out about John Nelson is his heart. You can tell the passion he has for football. ... He's a baller. He's got a bright future. Love him to death; he's a great dude. His family has good morals and he has a good heart."
. @Action_Jax44 on how it feels to be committed to #BYU:
"It feels great. It's a great opportunity. It's going to take a lot of hard work. My brother, John [Nelson], is helping me in a few days and I'm excited about that. I'm really excited."
@jlinehan9 Go get a sleep test done to get a true baseline of sleeping habits, find out if you have any apneas (episodes of sleep w/o breathing) and if you sleep better on your back or left/right side. I’ve tracked w/Fitbit and Apple Watch, to me they are equal
