There was a line from Zohran Mamdani’s inaugural address yesterday that took my breath away. He said he intended to replace “the frigidity of rugged individualism with the warmth of collectivism.” Collectivism in its various forms is responsible for the deaths of at least one hundred million people in the last century. Socialist and Communist forms of government around the world todayVenezuela, Cuba, North Korea, etc.—are disastrous. Catholic social teaching has consistently condemned socialism and has embraced the market economy, which people like Mayor Mamdani caricature as “rugged individualism.” In fact, it is the economic system that is based upon the rights, freedom, and dignity of the human person. For God’s sake, spare me the “warmth of collectivism.”
@SecKennedy I agree! Sugar is one of the worst things for our bodies to consume. Asking abt such things is responsible - Throwing a tantrum BC some1 brings up the subject is very juvenile and shows how unintelligent certain ppl can be!
@elonmusk I think a great idea for a centrist grp would be alternating President and V. President... When a republican is elected president then the v. president has to be a Democrat. That would keep both parties at the table for any decisions. Interesting idea I think.
@salltweets It's very important to distinguish being offended from a factual statement or an opinion. An opinion is a belief or judgment while being offended, is a feeling. Being offended is not a reasoned judgment or belief.
@salltweets Taking away rights for one group, so another group can feel comfortable, is not equality, that's discrimination. Equality would be opening up a bathroom for transgender. Also, being offended is not an opinion, it's an emotion.
Does anyone know where I can re-watch all 10 seasons of #Friends? On Demand shows episodes randomly, but I’d like to start from the beginning. Also, any other @netflix suggestions? Thank you everyone. ❤️
