@Paulgroberts78@SkyCricket To be fair to Atherton pretty much every test side in the 1990s had a legendary partnership (Walsh/Ambrose, Younis/Akram, McGrath/Warne, Vaas/Murali, Donald/Pollock etc. Even Zimbabwe had Heath Streak. Modern players have it easy by comparison.
@cricketontnt Given recent news, I'd suggest this video is taken down. People will find it a bit disturbing. Plus, Gower is only doing his job as a good journalist, but he was questioning Thorpe's competence as a coach.
As a regular @BBCNewsnight watcher I have to take to X to thank @MarkUrban01 for decades of thoughtful insights on foreign and diplomatic affairs, delivered with calm gravitas. I’ll miss his reporting very much.
@nickhillman I feel exactly the same. I watched expecting Geoff Norcott to be able to navigate the nuances and get under the hood of what universities do (pun intended with his car purchase comparison). Instead it was a script which could have been knocked up via ChatGPT in minutes.
The #isuniversityreallyworthit documentary missed important information balancing points raised e.g work to widen access, financial support, careers advice, investment in teaching/MH support etc. Instead it has gone for glib tabloid smears and underplayed financial constraints.
@MarkUrban01@BBCNewsnight And you opened up with an item demonstrating precisely why we need strong investigative journalism. I’ve watched the programme virtually every day and have huge respect for what you and your colleagues do.
@JamesBlitz@BBCNewsnight Agree entirely. The insight from those correspondents is high quality. Mark Urban has been hugely impressive on Ukraine and Gaza, offering intelligent and informative analysis @BBCNewsnight
@MartinSLewis It’s been a huge unfairness in the system for years, and a source of much frustration each year I fill out a tax return for no other reason than to pay back child benefit. My wife works part time but I still pay the whole lot back.
Best of luck to everyone receiving their A Level results today. A huge thank you to all the Admissions teams around the UK, working so hard to ensure applicants are supported. #alevels2023
@nickhillman@ofqual The briefing from Ofqual back in September 2022 was framed as ‘getting back to normal, with protection for students’. This shift has been known for some time but won’t stop it feeling abrupt for those who miss out on their preferred destination. We can’t have a repeat of 2020!
@GrahamtRuddick@TimesBusiness Good to see the focus on this topic, which is so important to the UK’s growth agenda. You didn’t manage to sneak in any references to our alma mater though!!
Undergraduate research is something @uniofwarwick does wonderfully well. We’re host to WorldCUR-BCUR 2023 and the delegates heard insights from @d_spiegel on how to communicate science and research #WorldCur
Engagement with the LLE will be incentivised by a slick, low-burden regulatory regime that trusts high quality providers. Rachel Sandby-Thomas explores some of the challenges...

It’s my final day @UniOfSurrey so I’m taking a final chance to explore the campus before joining @warwickuni on Monday. When life takes over it’s easy to forget how pleasant university campuses can be! #campus
@Yorkshire_BS I’m trying to buy a car and sent a payment from my ISA 24 hours ago. Why does it take so long to come through in the recipient account when it left my account immediately? I’ve seen sat waiting all day for it to complete!
An excellent summary of the challenges of constrained resource levels from @RussellGroup's Lily Bull. A helpful chart showing how the 2012 fee changes have been eroded over time due to inflation.
Are universities back to doing more with less? https://t.co/rggPd7QFdZ via @wonkhe
@68lorri@george_ezra We did have sound although the film started showing a few minutes in when they had already got to day 18 of the journey. A technical issue apparently. After that it was all fine and we had a good time.
