It takes a huge effort to keep up with the demand for our nest boxes. Volunteer JT is holding the 1000th Swift box he’s made the last 2 yrs for Suffolk Swifts. There’s also a Spotted Flycatcher nest box in the corner, 1 of 30 going to suitable Suffolk habitats #SuffolkBirdGroup

This picture depicts a devastating scene that conservationists are seeing up and down the country this breeding season.
Lots of hard work is going into protecting these birds; working with farmers, landowners, and collaboration with other conservation groups.
We are now pleading with the public to assist us in a measure we can’t control, the threat from loose domestic pets on important breeding grounds.

First glimpse of three (!!!) swift chicks in our nest box after hearing their burbling calls and watching the dedicated parents to-ing and fro-ing the last month ! 😍😅 wow wow wow

Catch us at the Stowmarket Food & Drink Festival next Sunday 6 July! 🍓🥬🧄
We’ll be there with a handpicked selection of our freshest, in-season produce – think juicy berries, crisp veg, new season potatoes and more… all straight from the farm and packed with flavour.
Another car load of nest boxes for Save Our Suffolk Swifts from John Stimpson, I couldn’t quite squeeze enough in for one to be the 45,000th one he has now made. We have free Community Sets available for prominent elevations of public buildings @suffolkwildlife@SuffolkBirdGrp
Another Swift Community Set has gone to Bramford Primary School. Their pupils have 6 Swift nest boxes to decorate before they’re all installed up high on their assembly hall along with a 240V call system. @suffolkwildlife@SuffolkBirdGrp Swift conservation works.
A Swift Community Set has gone to Heath Primary School in Kesgrave, 6 Swift nest boxes and a call system. Their pupils will decorate the boxes & line the egg concave with feathers and will be able to watch a Swift colony develop over time @suffolkwildlife@SuffolkBirdGrp
We had a really enjoyable day at the @hadleighshow last week. The sun was out, the strawberries smelled amazing, and it was great to see so many friendly faces 🌞🍓
It was great to talk about our fruit and veg - thanks to everyone who stopped by!
Still shaking after a potential FIRST FOR THE UK today at Trimley Marshes SWT with this Reed Warbler bearing a ring from fooking BUDAPEST!! 🥳 We can’t find any records of any other Reed Warblers from there? In fact, we can’t find records of any passerines from there?

UK Starlings like to nest in the nooks & crannies of older buildings, just like our Swifts and House Sparrows. Their nest entrances are automatically blocked by renovation works to modern building standards @SuffolkBirdGrp @suffolkwildlife https://t.co/IsmIv5qPzn
🌿 4 for £12 perennials or just £4.50 each – blooming great value!
Our perennials are homegrown right here at Hollow Trees, with plenty thriving in our polytunnels ready to head into your garden. Grown with care and looking fantastic!
@AdrianRamsay Ace! Mandating nest bricks would be a cheap game-changer for Swift conservation, and would help House Sparrows and Starlings as well, all red-listed. They all love the nooks and crannies of older buildings and are all blocked out by renovations. @SuffolkBirdGrp@suffolkwildlife
Thanks to everyone who took time to talk to me in Halesworth today - at my surgery and around the town.
Lots of people wanting to see more action to restore nature, including crucial amendments to Planning Bill and making swift bricks a requirement in new buildings.
@SoSSwifts
Same here
I asked some people to put their dogs on a lead yesterday and got a load of backchat
Dog walkers don’t know where their dogs will stress sheep or wildlife like ground nesting birds - locals do
But they won’t listen
Apologies for straying off topic but the first House Martins and Swallows are now arriving back & Suffolk is bone dry. If you have an open area create a mud splat and keep it moist until we have rain if you can. Here is a big splat in Woolpit! @SuffolkBirdGrp@ukhousemartins
A SOSSwift Community Set has gone to Westfield Primary School in Haverhill, Suffolk. Their pupils will decorate and number the 6 nest boxes before installation and calls will be played May-July. It will take time but a colony will develop @suffolkwildlife@SuffolkBirdGrp
