Former Kirklees Cllr & parliamentary candidate. Experienced professional in office management, public service and event organisation #HTAFC Season Ticket Holder
A number of defamatory articles and social media posts were published about me in the run-up to the general election in relation to my former events business, which I launched over 20 years ago. I am currently taking action against parties that have published misleading, distorted, and defamatory content.
To date, I have received and accepted a formal written apology from Politics UK, who have apologised and removed their false post about me on X. They have also acknowledged my work organising entertainment events, which has been recognised and lauded. However, their post has ended up costing them thousands of pounds, and I’m disappointed it has had to come to this.
I have also accepted and received written apologies from three other online news organisations for misleading articles that were published on their platforms in June.
Action against other parties is currently ongoing.
I’m pleased that Kirklees Council is set to reverse much of the proposed changes to library management across Kirklees including Spen Valley and wider Huddersfield area. Thank you to over 3,000 people who supported my petition opposing these changes. https://t.co/B19xk5Oo7e
The Rwanda partnership was cancelled by @UKLabour.
That means tens of thousands more people accessing our asylum system.
So, where is @YvetteCooperMP going to send people to? Reading? Rochdale? Richmond?
Only one thing is clear.
Starmer and Cooper have no plan.
Good to have the opportunity to appear on BBC Politics North and talk about important issues such as Rwanda, Free School Meals and NHS. #bbcpn

Labour have consistently voted against tougher measures to tackle illegal immigration and they say they will scrap the Rwanda plan, even if it deters small boat crossings. That seems crazy to me! #bbcpn#kirklees#spenvalley
Pleased to share Spen Valley Conservatives have won all three seats we were defending in the Kirklees Council Elections! Congratulations to Caroline Holt, Cllr Mark Thompson and @martynbolt. Looking forward to working with all our Conservative councillors to serve our community!
Had a chat live on BBC Radio Leeds this morning regarding proposed library management changes in Kirklees. We've received an overwhelming response with thousands of signatures on our petition so far. If you haven't already, please sign the petition below!https://t.co/Gefj4LJUx9
We're extending the Household Support Fund with an extra £500m.
Ensuring the most vulnerable households in England continue to get help with the cost of essentials like food and energy.
We're cutting taxes again, with a further 2% cut in National Insurance - from 12% in November to 8% in April.
Taken together with the measures at the Autumn Statement, that means someone on the average salary will save around £900 a year.
We’re increasing the threshold at which parents start paying the High Income Child Benefit Charge, from £50,000 to £60,000.
Making almost half a million families better off by an average of almost £1300 per household.
Debt relief order £90 charge to be cancelled. Also GOOD NEWS (its a Citizens Advice call).
Simplifying, these are a sort of easier form of bankruptcy for those with limited assets. The fact you have to pay for it has been a barrier to people who need help getting help. Very pleased to see the charge gone. #Budget2024 #BudgetXplanations
A councillor has demanded an assurance that community libraries won’t close if Kirklees Council fails to persuade voluntary groups to take them on
