@NickHarrisFWST We'd get one for him only if we have a net loss in compensatory free agents and don't sign anyone of similar value. But given our recent history in free agency, it does seem likely that we would get one.
@ConnorNFLDraft@JohnJrHila The increased cap hit in 2026 is only a quarter of the potential rollover, so it still could be helpful. But it would be nice if they actually used the 2025 cap space on something to help this season.
@LVRaiderTickets @Brady12Clark You are correct. There is no downside whatsoever to restructuring contracts and creating cap space. The key is what you do with the cap space you created. (A smart team would spend it wisely and try to win a championship.)
@SMontelone@nickkorte It's not a secret anymore. The last CBA finally spelled it out, for the most part. This is just a specific detail about how it is implemented.
Like that #Cowboys didn't burn any of their 8 draft picks at RB.
1. Team had needs (starters or depth) everywhere: LT, C, LB, WR, DL
2. RB easiest position to "figure it out" & scrape by with something dusty like Zeke Elliott/Rico Dowdle
3. Will lead to DAL having VERY high throw rate, which should make them more efficient given personnel
Compensatory free agents will no longer affect the comp pick formula starting tomorrow. We’ll also start to see other veterans find landing spots in the next few weeks.
@Marcus_Mosher Not necessarily. UDFA guarantees are offset, so they're just betting that he'll at least be on a practice squad if not a roster ... whether in Dallas or with another team.
The more I think about the Cowboys draft, the more I think a WR might end up being the move in Round 1.
Free agency won’t change the need for help alongside CeeDee. It’s too expensive to sign a legit No. 2.
WR probably the biggest “all-in” move. Assuming JPJ is already gone.
Tyler Smith benefitted from the new All-Pro voting system. He got the fourth-most first-team votes (5), behind Thuney (26), Nelson (9) and Bitonio (7). But he made second-team All-Pro ahead of Nelson and Bitonio thanks to 18 second-team votes to Bitonio's 7 and Nelson's 5.
Also:
Turpin finished third at KR and got a second-team vote at PR.
Sieg tied for fourth at LS, including one first-team vote.
Gilmore got one first-team vote.
Odighizuwa and Ferguson got one second-team vote each.
These @dallascowboys were awarded AP All-Pro honors:
First-Team:
WR CeeDee Lamb
CB DaRon Bland
G Zack Martin
K Brandon Aubrey
Second-Team:
QB Dak Prescott
LB Micah Parsons
T Tyron Smith
G/T Tyler Smith
P Bryan Anger
@CowboysStats The MVP voting has always been based on narrative. It often coincides with statistical analysis, but I'd say narrative is the primary factor.
@PapaStew80 @AyTini_ @PFF The way each one is calculated, the fan voting doesn't carry anywhere close to the same weight as either of the other two factors. It becomes too watered down to matter much, if at all.
