As you all know, I shopped around for quotes to decorate the Kaspa Rally Car. They were around €1,500 for a mix of printed graphics and cut vinyl, or €3,500 for a full wrap using cast vinyl made for vehicles.

As I mentioned yesterday, Pedro from Imago printed the graphics for the sides and rear on good-quality vinyl, but it isn’t the conformable cast type. The hardest part will be the curves of the bumpers: getting the vinyl to follow those shapes without wrinkling. That’s today’s big challenge for me 😅 Cast vinyl with printing and lamination can cost around €50 per square metre, so you can imagine how quickly it adds up.

I spoke with @ChadBallantyne yesterday and told him I’ll do my very best to do his work justice. I don’t think everyone realises just how much @rhubarbmedia has contributed to this project.

When we opened their files at Imago Publicidade, their designer was amazed. He told me he’s been doing this for over 30 years and had never received a file so well organised. That says a lot about the care Chad put into this.

Chad told me what the work they donated would normally cost. I’ll keep that number to myself, but you can probably imagine. Thank you, brother, and everyone at Rhubarb Media 🙏

And the good news? So far, we’ve spent just €120 on the car’s graphics and vinyl, thanks to all this support and many hours of me cutting, weeding and sticking it all on myself 😂💪

Today I woke up and went straight to cutting the roof sticker. Then I found the courage to tackle all 125 names 😂

Removing the excess vinyl took over 10 hours and a LOT of patience. Believe me, it nearly drove me mad, but it’s finally done! Ehehe 💪

Hello Kaspians! 💚

@ChadBallantyne graphics have arrived, and they look absolutely amazing! I immediately started looking for the best quote to print and apply the rally car livery designed by @rhubarbmedia

Honestly, the prices gave me a fright 😂 Some companies quoted as much as €3,500, and the lowest quote I could find was €1,420.

Chad even offered to organise a fundraiser for the livery, but asking for donations has never come easily to me. So I bought a vinyl cutter out of my own pocket and started cutting Chad’s designs myself! 💪

I’ll cut as much of the artwork as possible in vinyl. When I get to the parts that need digital printing, I’ll decide whether to outsource them or buy the printer myself 😂 Every quote I’ve received would cover buying the machine, doing the job myself, and still leave me with money to spare!

If any Kaspian owns a business and would like their company logo on the Kaspa Rally Car, get in touch with me!

As I cut each piece and apply it to the car, I’ll take photos and share the progress here on X.
