Whom should the Rangers draft at fifth overall? I took a look at what the Rangers will be debating for the eight prospects I see as realistic targets.

Trocheck makes sense for Toronto but I don't think they have the assets to make a compelling offer. Unless they are really that desperate and will include Easton Cowan.
Ehlers and Miller were very strong for Carolina tonight. Too soon for anything grandiose but those could be the difference-makers for them this postseason compared to past opportunities.
This would be a very good hire. Leach is a smart defensive coach and people who know him well describe him as an excellent communicator. Particularly with young players.
"I think some AHL jobs are getting close to getting filled ... Hartford has an opening and Jay Leach—the assistant in Boston—I'm told has an excellent shot at that job." — @FriedgeHNIC (32 Thoughts, 5/29/26) #NYR
Not exactly a convincing list in terms of plausibility and that's even before getting into the reality that the Rangers do not have movable assets who could bring in most of these players.
Word around the NHL is that the #NYR are looking to take a swing or two this summer to accelerate their retool, but identifying what that might look like is difficult given the lack of high-end talent readily available.

The Canucks' idea of an overhaul is to hire the Sedins, who then:
- Find a new GM internally, who happens to be their former teammate
- Hire a new head coach internally, who happens to be their former teammate
- Draft the new coach's son 3rd overall
Do I have that right?
