Unsure if anyone has encountered "Safespaces" beds. A company selling units that are effectively tents with duvets and external zips for £1000s+ for special needs children.
The primarily issue being that their sales appears to be nearly entirely funded by the government/DFG.
"Listen, I was betting on pint prices going up - and they did! I was the best pint price trader in the world, you know? That's what I do, I bet on my predictions, and I'm always right."
One of the chief selling points of a Land Value Tax is that it improves economic efficiency. But if people can't respond to the tax by using their land more efficiently - because of planning restrictions - or if you exempt social housing (as Dan concedes) then you don't get that.
Bit of an ideological Turing test here. Can Polanski really not think of *any* reason other than ‘cruelty’ that the government (annual deficit: £23bn) might want to stop spending billions per year on benefits for people who are not citizens?
Respectfully, if you end up devoting your account to endless Christmas-Cracker-tier I’m A Pervert bits and e-girl wank I’m not sure what box you stand on to proclaim all this, given that people who have shifted mainstream still do write on here
@RenaudFoucart@residentadviser Net migration is irrelevant for people who don't engage with these figures, they go outdoors and see more migrants than they saw a decade ago and decide the issue remains
Scoop: Andy Burnham will vote FOR Shabana Mahmood's immigration crackdown in the Commons tonight.
Dozens of Labour MPs had written to him urging him to water down the Immigration and Asylum Bill, warning the party is “losing progressive voters”.
But a spokesperson tells HuffPost UK: "This Bill takes important steps towards restoring confidence by tackling illegal crossings while strengthening safe and legal routes for genuine refugees.
"This is about ensuring the system is fair both to those seeking protection and to the communities that welcome them."

@sapucyvv756@Seoirse_@keewa "I don't care about history or maths because I'm a moron" my life standard is fine tyvm and it'll doubtless improve once people sympathetic to you have less control over it
@sapucyvv756@Seoirse_@keewa It was notoriously riddled with loopholes and was viewed by 3 of his main advisors as an emotional decision designed to win votes not help the nation. Maybe don't pull things up that you don't understand?
@sapucyvv756@Seoirse_@keewa Hilarious example to choose and one that reveals just how little you know. A great many people agree he raised the tax principally in response to Huey Long (FDR's own son even suggests as much) the tax raised a negligible amount of money because so few people fit the top brackets
@sapucyvv756@Seoirse_@keewa Even besides that issue, even Gary claims his ridiculous tax would only raise money equivalent to a few days of government spending per year. You just don't understand the maths of government nor the reality of it and prefer to scream on twitter instead of learning anything.
@sapucyvv756@Seoirse_@keewa If I come up with a tax that takes money away from billionaires and then they all leave before my law becomes functional I will have lost the tax they already pay and have not gained any new tax. How is this a concept you fail to understand?
@Seoirse_ Absolutely, my grandfather spent much of his life in Welsh choirs and some of the best music I've ever heard has been sung by him and 40 odd portly Welsh men.
