@EddieComeaux No one should be punished/treated wrongfully just because of the color of ones skin and SRO shouldn't be lingering on campus especially K-12 b/c it puts more fear than safety into minority students. SRO should only be called in when neccessary. School is not jail! #racialjustice
@andrear90835875@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I think its pretty unsettling. It feels as if organizations only see minority SA as sport-educated & physical while the whites are praised for being educated both mentally and physically. Everyone regardless of color should be treated equally. #UCR150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
Why are intercollegiate athletics academically underachieving at a greater rate then white SA? It appears more white athletes graduate compared to the black athletes. Why is that? #Ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@LievanosYuliana@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I agree. Having SA take easy classes just so they can focus all their attention on sports does more bad then good. Edu is just as important as sports and they should be given the opportunity & lead to thrive both academically & sports-wise. #UCR150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
SA juggle alot but Influencing SA to take less demanding majors/classes in which they have no interest in just so they can be awarded grades with little to no effort to maintain eligibility isnt fair. Academics are just as important as sports.#ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@ANDREARAYAS7@MisssNallely It feels like student athletes are overlooked once again and their freedom keeps getting taken way. The 4-4 transfer does not appear to be in the best interest of the athlete but instead in favor of the organization.@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar #ucr150
The 4-4 transfer makes it difficult for athletes to transfer and some may face penalties if they want to transfer. Their freedom is restricted when it comes to transfering and that isn't fair. Something should be done who agrees? #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@CherennaM @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely I agree with you. Many SA are getting hurt/concussions because they aren't properly educated about this health condition & SA need better safely equipment like concussion-proof helmets or something. #UCR150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
Concussions are serious & most symptoms aren't visible. However, some coaches don't treat athletes with concussions seriously leading them to sweep things under the rug and throw the players back in the game too soon. #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@veeveeand @MisssNallely @rabea_qamar You are right. After doing the reading I have been questioning if Tile IX is really as "equal" as they are make it seem. Snatching things from female SA doesn't seem fair or equal to me. #UCR150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
Title IX is set out to promote gender equality in higher edu which is a good thing however why does Title IX not require the same amount of $ spent on both men and women when it comes to sports? Does this equality/title have restrictions? #ucr150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
@sheilaluna___@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar I think you're right. These athletes are still children. They can barely make simple decisions like what food they want to eat let alone something that going to decide their entire future. A parent or legal figure should be involved to help. #UCR150@MisssNallely @rabea_qamar
The NLI seems like a terrible agreement for SA to sign. Plus 7 days isn't enough time to decide. Does anyone else agree with writer Zach Helfand when he questions if the NLI is the worst contract in American Sports? Why or why not? #ucr150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@BCARD38139413 @rabea_qamar I feel like athletics are just profit and are replaceable. If an athlete gets hurt they just replace them so the game goes on meaning that's more money in their pockets. It's all about $$$ not so much the well being or ability of the SA. @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely#UCR150
The NCAA "purchases" athletes. Some coaches refer to their players as their "property" which can be read as (coach = a slave owner). Are athletes just a profit? Is it all about the money/monopoly power? Is sports the modern day slavery? #UCR150 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
@MisssNallely I sent you an email. But I did have a link included in my tweet. It's at the bottom of my response. I dont use Twitter so I just copied and pasted the link. I clicked on it and it works. Could you revisit my post.
Do you think it is fair for colleges to be able to take away an athletes scholarship funds just because they voice their opinions/protest? @helloJuJudy @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely#Ucr150 https://t.co/oLBLkiHFfu
@RMendez032 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely@helloJuJudy I feel like you're right. The programs such as the ones listed in your post should provide all SA's with personal behavioral health therapist along with other mental health services in order to keep SA's mentally stable. #Ucr150
@jazmine_garcia0 @mishii921 @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely I agree with your post. Money is more important then students/ athletics themselves. We as scholars are just profit in colleges pockets and it's pretty sad. The more valuable the student the more money the college gets. #Ucr150@helloJuJudy @rabea_qamar @MisssNallely
