To all the educators I need help :
I am thinking to do project based maths with our KS3 students. Would anyone know a good place to find resources/ideas and inspiration!? Thanks in advance !
@Whitehughes @PearsonEdexcel@DrFrostResource @mathsgenie @ALMathsRevision Sorry I wasn’t expecting you to calculate but rather interested to know what the range might be -will do it thanks
@Whitehughes @PearsonEdexcel@DrFrostResource @mathsgenie @ALMathsRevision Thanks for a prompt reply… I agree it doest help students understand but rather confuse them. The MS uses two tailed test on the bases that it it doesn’t say increase or decrease.
I think one of the critical value is 69 for a two tailed test. What would be the critical region?
Does anyone have a decent taster year 11-12 maths taster lesson? Please share
I use to have a really good lesson on binomial expansion and Pascal triangle but can’t find where I saved it … no thanks to “Sharepoing” …

@Mrs_Hall_Maths@mathsjem@Just_Maths @annemathswatson The workload is not excessive nor we are asking for extra. The fact is many in department are complacent and don’t like to change their old ways.
Our maths department is divided and some play very dirty politics to do minimum - dead weights - I am dreading to go back and face it … any advice?! Thanks @mathsjem@Just_Maths @annemathswatson
@GrownStudent@mathsjem@Just_Maths @annemathswatson Absolutely agree lots to consider but without given too much details … there has been a plot to ousted the HoD cause he wants ppl to be proactive and not deadweights etc … it’s minority vs majority
@Wend68@Just_Maths@mathsjem @annemathswatson I am a KS coordinator and I have been hearing excuses in groups when I bring some change to better the department but they just happy with as little as they can… one even go to the extend of involving Union Reps.
@GrownStudent@mathsjem@Just_Maths @annemathswatson I don’t like the negative feelings and it’s the first time I am facing this and I have thought of leaving and changing the school.
@PearsonEdexcel It’s an incredible organisation and my favourite exam board but I’ve heard the number of hours spent marking is significantly higher in comparison to the pay rate…. 😏😒
@pickover This is not a valid question, is it??
It’s like you asking”a number is equal to the number add 3”…we can come with infinite number of invalid questions 😜😜
@Just_Maths Thank you !
Do you think We should go through this to every student or would it be helpful to the majority who are struggling? Is there enough challenge for the few who are doing well?
In recent assessments our data for year 7 and 8 looks worrying in comparison to the cohort two years ago. The impact of lockdowns and disruption to learning is clearly visible. Any ideas of interventions are welcome @PearsonEdexcel@PearsonEdexcel@Just_Maths@MathsHubLdnCNW
@MathsHubLdnCNW@PearsonEdexcel@Just_Maths@NCETM Thank you ! I’ve just registered and will look at the resources in details. From conversation with my team - students retention and recalling skills are pretty poor.
