It’s #DownSyndromeAwarenessMonth! Last year we met Jason and his sister Jenni from @PALSprograms Check back in with this awesome sibling duo and learn how even through the pandemic, they are still working towards a world of belonging. @SONorthAmerica
👏 News Flash: PPS will restore all adaptive PE teachers for the 20-21 school year. Great news! Thanks to parents, teachers, staff who lent their voices + @Super_GGuerrero & staff for re-examining the budget to pull back cuts. @PPSConnect@OregonSHAPE@adamphowell@SavePortlandPE
@pdx_PE@SavePortlandPE@OregonSHAPE We are one now! It was wonderful working with you guys for the common good of all students in PE 👍👍
Much more collaboration to come!
We won!!!!! HR is going to send written confirmation shortly that they are totally reversing course on any cuts to Adapted PE. Thanks for all of your amazing work all over the US. I am so proud to be an APE today!!! This is a HUGE WIN FOR EVERYONE!!!
@EilidhPdx Adapted Physical Education is physical education which has been adapted or modified, so that it is as appropriate for the person with a disability as it is for a person without a disability. Inclusive PE programs cannot and shouldn't replace APE Services!
Once again, I have a really hard time reading the @PPSConnect motto of “Equity and Excellence: Every student, every teacher, every school succeeding.” when I hear about this. Which one is it? Is it equity for all? Or priority for the majority? You can’t have it both ways.
@HPE_Dr @Super_GGuerrero what about our students with disabilities? To eliminate the APE program is a step in the wrong direction toward the PPS vision of equity.
