It’s simple.
All the races and species have their own countries and cultures that are distinct from one another.
In the case of these different races comingling, there is an established dynamic that feels realistic, like the Dunmer in Winterhold, to use a popular example.
When you go to a country in The Elder Scrolls, you don’t see downtown LA, you see a country that is more likely to exist in the time period that it’s emulating. Verisimilitude exists, and as a result people buy into it without thinking.
Exposures to other cultures in specific regions still happens, but it’s not overtly intrusive and more just a window into the outside world at times.
If you make it all make sense and distinctive, the average person is going to accept it. Many creatives forget that step.

Did you know the TV show “To Catch a Predator” was cancelled because they kept catching law enforcement, teachers, preachers, local officials, and other people who were supposed to protect children?
The final straw? An Assistant District Attorney in Texas was courting who he thought was a 13-year-old boy. He didn’t show for the sting, so they sent law enforcement and the camera crew to his home. The police entered, and Louis Conradt shot himself, taking his own life.
Can’t make this shit up.
I genuinely recommend people playing CONSCRIPT if they want to get to experience all of this first hand. It's a genuine unnerving game that at times makes my stomach drop. It's beautiful in a way.
The most horrifying passage I’ve read about WW1 was a German soldier describing resting inside a lower floor of a captured French fort during Verdun. Part of the floor was a makeshift hospital and everyone was crowded there during an artillery barrage when poison gas started flooding into the chamber. The mad scramble for the few gas masks around (the soldier had his own him still) followers helpless wounded soldiers screaming, then choking, then dying in droves is the most viscerally awful scenario possible. Just a pit in the stomach the whole time reading.
