@tokunbo_wahab Sir, the refuse situation in Aquaview estate Ogudu Orioke needs to be looked into urgently. It takes weeks for waste company to pick up
Also, there’s a lot of dumping on the roadside especially opposite the local government office on Ogudu road.
Last month, I joined founder @Itoroezeanaba and @Mirabelcentre on a visit to the Honorable Attorney general,
Mr Lawal Pedro, SAN at the Ministry of Justice to discuss the important work the centre does for victims & the valuable support and pivotal role from the justice ministry
The founder of the Mirabel
Centre (rape crisis center) just told us that the youngest patient they have seen is 3 months old and the oldest is 82 years old. My God
I stumbled on a flyer about an event for "single moms", and it got me thinking deeply about motherhood and how insufficient words are to describe that sacred task cum gift! I reached out to my dear friend who had that flyer up. I wasn't entirely happy about the tag "Single" for mothers.
My dear, you're a mom! A super mom, and methinks this single mom or parent thing is derogatory and could mean less of the efforts mothers all put in individually. Having a child or children makes you a community and not single.
Back in the day, this could pass, but as we advance, we have seen so many words as demeaning and derogatory to the extent that "that old man" is terrible. You recall the poem 'Old Roger'. Instead, we should say that elderly men and the list is long
You see, some of us who use such adjectives to qualify moms were unaware of the immense powers of mothers and, without any thinking, erroneously placed an unworthy tag on women who independently raise children- a community!
Whether you're alone raising your child or family, or there's a man or woman who was meant to share that responsibility with you but hasn't been there because of death, abscondment, abandonment, or even present yet absent, you're not single but powerful and independent.
PS.
The term "single mom" is derogatory. It makes the women seem irresponsible when, in fact, they are the ones who stepped up, especially when the fathers chose not to be there!

In September 2021, Her Majesty, as Duchess of Cornwall, became Patron of @MirabelCentreNG.
Mirabel is Nigeria’s first Sexual Assault Referral Centre, which provides medical and psychosocial support to survivors of sexual violence.
@StanbicIBTC we’ve been trying to reach our account manager Ere to no avail, we’re tired of such incompetence and we demand a response. I’ve never heard of a situation where an account manager is being chased for account details and response.
