The Concrete Garden, London (2001), inverts the normal concept of a garden. Spaces that can be seen, but not necessarily entered, provide occasions when normal perceptions of scale and convention are suspended.

This project was about making the entrance spaces to a Victorian library more inviting to the public. The key element in Adjaye’s strategy is a screen wall, based on a drawing by Chris Ofili, standing just inside the building.

A unifying element of the Abrahamic Family House is the plinth and garden elevating the three houses of worship. Found in almost all religions is this idea of elevation, of reaching to the skies and approaching divinity by moving away from the ground plane of the earth.

Sycamore & Oak is a community-led mixed-use development in the predominantly Black and historically underinvested Congress Heights neighborhood of Washington DC, incubating local businesses and providing job opportunities to neighborhood residents.
