Six Years!
Six years ago, on a Saturday; April 18, 2020, my father left this world. Today is Saturday, April 18, 2026. The date is the same. The day is the same. Only the years have passed and yet nothing has truly changed.
He walked through this life carrying weight that most would have buckled under quietly, without complaint, without asking the world for anything it wasn’t willing to give. He struggled and he did it with dignity. He struggled and he did it alone. And somehow, through all of it, he left without a single regret.
If one of the noblest souls to ever walk this earth could carry his burden with grace and still find peace; then I am his son. I will do the same.
I am not chasing his footsteps out of obligation. I am chasing them because there is no path I would rather be on. Because every hardship feels lighter when I remind myself who taught me how to carry it.
I miss you, Daddy G more than these words can hold. But I carry you with me in everything I do and I pray that one day, wherever I end up, you will already be proud.
