If I had to start helpdesk all over again. I would take advantage of YouTube Academy and watch some videos on Mike Meyers Professor Messer. Learn the fundamentals of operating systems, networking and hardware.

Build a lab learning active directory, ntfs, smb, password reset, account creation, group policy, security groups, distribution groups. Join a pc to the domain and have fun with group policy. Go to town with making gpo changes.

Sign up for office 365 admin suite for 30 days and learn troubleshooting word, excel, powerpoint, outlook and also learn the admin side of teams, exchange, SharePoint.

Next, I will sign up to learn about a ticketing system using Spiceworks

Get free training on mfa using Duo Security and get free training on mdm mobile device management using IBM Maas360.

Get hands on experience by signing up for free trial on intune and entra id.

With all the stuff I learned. I will build a portfolio using medium or github and also add that link and hands on experience on my resume.

You don't need to spend hundreds of dollars on training. Just sign up for trial accounts and get hands on experience using Microsoft azure, gcp or aws.

Happy learning and have a good weekend.

Don't go crazy with it but have fun learning.
