Dr @Chans2k2 and Dr Mudrika Khandelwal, both faculty at @IITHyderabad gifted me a copy of their book #DemystifyingtheNature.

Written for young school children, it was a pure delight to read this short yet very powerful book. The book takes five examples of nature – Lotus Leaf, Lizard, Butterfly, Moth and Spider and explains complex concepts associated with them in an extremely lucid way accessible to all science students. For example, it nicely explains the adhesive property of gecko lizard & science behind iridescent butterfly wings.

Mudrika was a dual degree student @iitbombay and Chandra is an @IITKanpur alumnus and so I have some connections !! As a teacher, I must say that I am in awe of their skills to explain science principles.

The book is also a lesson in #pedagogy. I hope this will inspire other scientists towards science popularization.

(Also, it was nice to note that the book was sponsored by erstwhile @VigyanPrasar of @IndiaDST).

The iHub-Data @iiit_hyderabad , set up with support from the @IndiaDST, has been nurturing many innovative technologies.

iRASTE in Nagpur is India's first initiative to integrate #AI for road safety, along with a GenAI-based driving simulator, to reduce the chances of road fatalities in scenarios specific to driving in India.

The hub works on healthcare and mobility and has developed an #AI-based early oral #cancer screening, and a live dashboard to identify genomic hotspots. An oral cancer app has been developed that is now being used in the field as a pre-screening tool in rural parts of Northeast India, where it has benefited more than 3,500 individuals, in partnership with @Bioconlimited and Vishnu Dental College.

Another significant milestone is the IDEA Lab that I inaugurated during my short visit, which can facilitate translational research in the fields of healthcare, mobility, and data foundation. A total of 52 India-specific datasets covering smart mobility, healthcare, and smart city buildings' IoT are available on the data foundation platform. This unique data collection is available for R&D and startups to build new data-driven solutions. They are also creating the largest collection of India Pathology Data (IPD) and Cardiovascular Data (CVD).
