The Zojila Tunnel project in the western Himalayas, is set to transform connectivity between Srinagar and Ladakh.

Located at an altitude of 11,578 feet, the 13.153-km main tunnel is expected to become India's first major tunnel of its kind at such a high elevation and one of the world's longest bi-directional tunnels at this altitude. Stretching from Meenamarg (East Portal) to Baltal (West Portal), the project will ensure all-weather, year-round access between Srinagar, Dras, Leh and Ladakh, eliminating the six-month winter isolation caused by heavy snowfall and avalanches.

Along with the tunnel, 17 km of approach roads, bridges and cut-and-cover structures have also been completed, enhancing both civilian mobility and strategic connectivity in the region.
