Morality, fairness, and justice were the unwritten critical conditions to follow for people in power since the early days of civilisation. Even if they didn’t follow them, they made efforts that history remembers them as the good guys who tried.

And then sometime in the last two decades (after a century of dabbling with the idea) a new set of kings arrived who said - what if we choose to be openly immoral, unjust, and even vile. What could go wrong (for us)?

And nothing did - in fact their powers, mandates, and evilness kept on increasing. They don’t care about history or the written word documenting their deeds - in fact have an active disdain for it. Both history and future are just tools to their agenda - of accumulating more power in the present.

And the most fascinating paradox hidden in this choice is that these kings have proudly made religion and their own religious identities as the central argument to their position.

Religion - a way of life that above all surmises that actions have consequences (even for Gods) - being used by people who firmly believe in zero consequences. These kings, more than even the godless atheists, know there are no gods, no afterlife, no rebirths, and no punishment here or anywhere else.

Nihilist power-grabbers have taken over the world while the common believers are left to deal with the consequences.

It’s not just the end of ethics, it’s the end of the biggest lure of the religions itself - that in the end, there’s justice. It’s the end of religion.

I dont usually debunk what health-illiterate spiritual gurus mutter about medicine and nutrition, but this video was shared with me for some fact checking and also because it has got millions of views and 60K likes.

And it is utter nonsense.

The video features Jaggi Vasudev, self proclaimed spiritual leader also known as Sadhguru - who was featured in The Joe Rogan podcast (not that it makes him any credible, but it can project his nonsensical takes on healthcare onto millions worldwide)

There are many utterly and absolutely inacurrate claims made in this video.

Claim: There is a poisonous chemical called citatine in brinjal.
Fact: There is no such thing as citatine. Brinjal (or egg plant), along with potatoes and tomatoes belong to the family of nightshade and genus Solanum. Solanum group contain Solanine in the unripe fruit/vegetables. These are natural defences present in these plants against animals. When stored under ambient temperature and when ripe enough, the chances of solanine poisoning is almost zero. Reports of poisoning and fatality were because people consumed bitter green tomatoes or green skin potatoes. Peeling skin of potatoes almost nullifies the risk of solanine poisoning.

Claim: Citatine (actually he must have meant solanine) damages the hypothalamus region of brain.
Fact: There is no evidence to show that solanine affects the hypothalamus region of brain. The most common site of toxicity from solanine is on the gastrointestinal tract - burning sensations in the mouth, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps and diarrhea and nothing on the hypothalamus in the brain.

Claim: Hypothalamus is the important part of the brain which helps in decision making. Poison in brinjal attacks this part and makes you dull.
Fact: The prefrontal cortex (PFC) and hippocampus are the most critical parts of the human brain for decision making and not hypothalamus.

Claim: Eating a whole garlic will kill you.
Fact: No it wont. It will drive away vampires and non-vampires because literally no one can stand that breath. And probably give you a heartburn you'll never forget. Also nobody is going to eat a whole garlic unless it is reality TV where you are getting paid for it.

Claim: If you eat one egg plant (brinjal) a day for a year, you will become a far duller person.
Fact: If you keep listening to people like Jaggi and watch Jaggi videos and enjoy seeing Jaggi dancing during Navaratri, it is more like that you are already a very dull person without any critical thinking skills.

Last point:
The classification of foods into Satvic (pure, light), Rajasic (spicy, stimulating) and Tamasic (heavy, dull - such as Brinjal) is according to the primitive untested observations-based religious mumbo-jumbo from ancient Ayurvedic scriptures which also feature the annoyingly hocus-pocus "hot and cold" foods classification - it is utter nonsense.

Never for a second believe the nutritional pseudoscience of Ayurveda. Many people suffer from Avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder (ARFID) because they following this nonsense classification.

The apex court in India, the Supreme Court (SC), ruled that Ayurveda practitioners do not perform equivalent work and so cannot have equal pay compared to MBBS(medical science) doctors.

It took a verdict from the honorable SC for people to understand the difference between medical science and pseudoscience.

Apart from the pointed differences shown in court as per the Table below, there are far more important differences that should make a pseudoscience like Ayurveda and a quackery like Homepathy be cast into oblivion.

-Ayush practitioners cannot diagnose a disease and hence cannot treat properly. E.g., Ayurveda treats imbalance of Vata/Pitta/Kapha, unmeasurable obsolete and imaginary pathologies without proof of existence.
-Homeopaths treat vital force which no human has ever confirmed, seen or measured, with nothing and sometimes alcohol.
-Yoga claims to align Chakras for improving health/wellness which can be seen only with a third eye. Humans unfortunately do not have a third eye.

Ayurveda (BAMS), Homeopathy (BHMS), Siddha (BSMS) and Naturopathy (BYNS) are TAUGHT in India as professional courses, wasting 5 years of student life and productive human years.

Ultimately, those who complete this course end up doing any or a combination of the following:

1. Prescribe modern medicine illegally
2. Add modern medicine to their drugs unethically.
3. Open an Instagram account and talk BS such as Yoga cures PCOS, turmeric prevents cancer or eating fish+milk will kill you, gain brainded followers and monetize.
4. Open a supplements company and sell Ashwaganda to gym bros or Ayurvedic natural oils for penile erections.
5. Advertise unscientific practices in visual, print and social media to gain mislead patients and scam them off their money.
6. Promote science-denialism or inculcate chemophobia among general people and patients and grab them away from real healthcare, wasting resources, increasing health burden (herbal liver injuries) and increasing morbidity/mortality.
7. Make a Twitter account and troll/harass/abuse real doctors.

All the above are IMPORTANT points that should inform parents not to send their children to study Ayush as a career option or students to not opt for Ayush as a career option. Look at it realistically. You spend so much, waste 5 years and more, study bullshit such as seizures are caused by demons and cockroach parts dissolved in alcohol cures cough, and get paid peanuts.
