My quick review of The Odyssey. The movie immediately starts with a stress test: are you racist, are you transphobic, are you Leguizamophobic? I quickly ascertain that I am indeed pure of heart and worthy of watching the movie. I discover Lupita Nyongo is good in it but Christopher Nolan has typecasted her role as Angry Black Woman and I wonder why he did that and if HE is racist. As I start to fear this movie might be made by a white supremacist, I realize holy shit I'm bored. The journey part of the Odyssey is simply not that interesting. I'm jogging my memory back to highschool to remember the story to see if it gets interesting but I realized I didn't read The Odyssey but the Cliff Notes - a cheat sheet in the 1980s - and probably got a C+ on the essay. Either way the Charlize Theron therapy session parts are making me fall asleep (why aren't they fucking). It gets interesting at the end because Matt Damon's arms do 90% of the acting as he kills people of all races. I hope his bloodthirsty arms get an Oscar and an investigation by the Southern Poverty Law Center. So the ending was aight, but why did they shoot this in IMAX when most of it is medium shots and close ups with the background out of focus? Overall score: I'm totally not racist.

Just a reminder that deepseek v3 came out 18 months ago and was considered revolutionary at the time but is basically unusable today

There was a fierce debate at the time about vibe coding and the argument was that LLMs can never create anything new because they are limited by their training data

Those engineers were partly right and vibe coding was a real nightmare, I cannot believe what we used to put ourselves through with Sonnet 3.5, but we also knew real new things could be made and that the detractors were wrong

I guess us non-engineers saw it most clearly (I would like to think so at least) because we were astonished at the new things we could do without the programming background, and we had nothing to lose and everything to gain in our enthusiasm

Then came Opus 4.5 earlier this year which changed everything

Everyone complained endlessly about models being nerfed or quantized but there was a steady march of progress from 4.5 to 4.8

Now a completely new crop of models is coming out that is not quite a 4.5 moment but something close

We are not only getting more polish but things are becoming a little freaky, entire isolated domains become possible to combine with small teams or even just one person into new applications that would have required large infusions of time and capital in the past

With the need for food and dominance gone , only sex remains the deepest and the most ancient drive
But there won’t be human sex in the A I world and that’s because AI lovers will eclipse every real partner. The A I generated sex partners can read your mind, never tire, never age, never refuse. Advanced VR, haptic suits, and neural interfaces will make the erotic experience more visceral, more intense than humans can. Real humans bring fatigue, moods, jealousy, demands, and compromise.

So the multiverse is not fringe. It shows up in serious science journals and major labs. The tweet just wrapped a movie plot around it.

The "many worlds" idea goes back to a Princeton physics student, Hugh Everett, in 1957. Every time a particle could go two ways, the universe splits, and both versions happen. In a 2025 survey of more than 1,000 physicists marking a century of quantum mechanics, about 15 percent picked it as their favorite explanation of reality. The older Copenhagen view won with 36 percent. Still, 15 percent is a lot of physicists, not a few cranks.

Now for the theory the tweet is probably mangling. In 2014, three physicists at Griffith University in Australia published a paper in Physical Review X saying parallel worlds are real and physically push against each other. Worlds that are almost identical push apart, like people elbowing for space in a packed room. That shoving creates every strange quantum effect, from particles slipping through solid walls to acting like a wave and a particle at the same time. One world gives you ordinary, predictable physics. A huge number of worlds gives you the weird rules of quantum mechanics.

In all of these pictures, your other copies cannot touch your life. The moment a quantum system bumps into its surroundings, the branches split and stop talking to each other. For an object about as heavy as a paperclip, the split happens faster than light can cross the center of a single atom.
