@AquelefetodeEva@heavenly_otter@derpo377 I avoided using "refuse to accept objective reality" to avoid coming off as patronizing. I'm not expecting anyone to "appeal to the consensus" that the movies are bad. I'm expecting people to accept if everyone agrees that a horse is a horse, your dissent doesn't matter.
@AquelefetodeEva@heavenly_otter@derpo377 You can't have a discussion with someone who refuses to accept that the consensus on what is bad and what is not is invalid so long as they personally disagree.
-Bad dialogue, "I disagree"
-Poorly paced, "I disagree"
-Bad CGI, "I disagree"
-Poor acting, "I disagree"
And so on.
@ImNotOwned Honestly, I got caught up in the comments and the discussion they were having, and on review I see you're probably not just talking about religion, so I will say that what I am talking about doesn't apply to things that pose a danger to other humans like racism or homophobia.
@ImNotOwned It is a savior complex and is called out (rightfully) when it's about non-Christians. Talk to people about issues they face in their own communities and how they want to see them resolved. Seeing acceptance of your worldview as the path to improvement is a Missionary mindset.
@LaLizzey@notrealayesha It just depends on what kind of stuff the algorithm surrounds you with on the internet tbh cause this showed up in my feed amidst a bunch of awful discourse about a black girl character in a movie and her appearance so maybe it just makes sense for the person posting it.
@GODFOE_UNIVERSE It is kinda crazy that Star Wars politics went from the black-and-white politics of the original trilogy to an actually surprisingly nuanced critique of strict adherence to ideologies allowing people whose only ideology is self-empowerment to use their own rules to play them.
@GODFOE_UNIVERSE Not disagreeing with your overall message but Palpatine did not "screw over" the democratic system that was in place he literally utilized it and it's processes to seize power. The prequels are very critical of "let the smart people in charge figure it out" politics.
@pedsap I feel like there's some lack of nuance in this discussion because yes, Democracy alone won't stop violent aggressors but the violent aggressors typically have to undermine and remove Democratically-elected governments as part of their process because it IS a threat to them.
@derpo377 You can't even say "Hitler was bad" anymore someone will expect you to have a dissertation ready on the demographics and socioeconomics of Weimar Germany and a breakdown on the modus of Nationalism and Ethnic Pride and a psychoanalysis of the man himself and will still say "nah."
@derpo377 People legitimately want you to build an argument from the ground up all on your own without acknowledging the mountains of discourse on a topic every time you state an opinion these days.
@Mayuuri1024 Racists look at this clip as a perfect example of everything they hate about the "ogre-ish, loud, annoying and disruptive" black woman and want black people to acknowledge that it aligns with that stereotype so that they can disparage them for embracing it.
@Mayuuri1024 There are a group of racists trying to "gotcha" black people into calling a character with exaggerated black features (done in a spirit of pride, not mockery like racist caricatures) racist so they can turn around and say "see even you agree with the racists about black features"
@esjesjesj This is yet a other one of those "I was taught a simplified version of a historical event in elementary school to get a complex point across, and as an adult learning the full context has led me to the false conclusion that I was lied to and indoctrinated" cases.
@Ember_arab I love how on the surface there is some sympathy you can draw for Cartman seeing his waterpark overcrowded but when you look at everyone around him they're all smiling and having fun and he's choosing to be the only miserable person there by idealizing the past.
@zebbel4289339@fennomanne@Greenpig117 You misunderstand me. This isn't a matter of "people are using AI to outpace ordinary people and replace them." This is a matter of the CEOs of these companies manufacturing a crisis that only they can solve by people using their products.
@zebbel4289339@fennomanne@Greenpig117 It's not a matter of a "new technology being scary" the technology has astounding potential to be beneficial but it is being utilized by oligarchal despots to destabilize everything around them to ensure that they are the only ones to look to for solving it. The people are scary.
@_sn_n It's pretty funny that I see people saying "this is what no kings protestors look like" and mocking democracy as ineffective when this entire coup likely happened because the military leadership feared the reforms the newly-elected officials would bring being bad for them.
@EffectiveCommie Kind of already in a video game crash; big names are selling but not enough, indie is oversaturated with clones and we're seeing more spread-out spending not everyone buying the same few games. Things will continue to trend that way and AAA may crash but market will still be big.
