Edinburgh University is beautiful, and it’s challenged the intellectual hegemony of universities like Oxford and Cambridge. That’s partly down to its links with the enlightenment, and notable alumni such as David Hume.

After Anschluss, #Nazis used it for administrative purposes, and it was bombed heavily during World #War II.

Aspects of the parliament were restored using a modern style, but the front (which you can see here) retained Hansen’s design.

This is the interior of the Austrian parliament building. It was constructed in 1883 by Theophil Hansen. You can see that he was inspired by classical architecture, and the ideal of #democracy embodied by the ancient Greeks.

Ley lines are believed to mark a flow of mystical energy, and lots of monuments are built on them. Take Stonehenge for example, where multiple ley lines are believed to converge.

Are they actually mystical? It’s unproven, but food for thought nonetheless…
