This painting is a work in progress. You can see that the details are still very rough especially for the background figures. I work in layers so the details gradually come into focus. I usually work from the back forwards, but for this I jumped forward to the foreground figure and will go back to the background figures to refine details.

The scene depicts Trajan's legions in Dacia. I will share more about the details of the armor and context as this painting develops towards completion.
