Today (15 August) marks 1,792 days since secondary schools closed to girls in Afghanistan.
I've spent almost two decades reporting from Afghanistan - the only country in the world where girls are systematically denied an education.
With the help of @RukhshanaMedia, we heard from girls who are unable to work, study and live the same lives enjoyed by millions of other girls around the world.
These are their stories.

Rescuers in eastern Afghanistan are searching through mud and rubble after flash floods and a landslide tore through Nuristan province. At least 23 people have been killed, and dozens are still missing as officials warn of more heavy rain and a rising death toll.
@amnesty found no evidence to support the Pakistan military’s claims that Omid Rehabilitation and Treatment Centre was being used to store weapons and ammunition or for other military purposes at the time of the attack. The air strikes violated the special protection afforded to healthcare facilities under international humanitarian law (IHL), as well the principles of distinction, precaution and proportionality designed to protect civilians.
