@ppcarchitect 100%. Branded should run well under break-even since you're defending sales you'd likely get anyway. Launch keywords can go over on purpose to buy rank, as long as there's an end date and TACoS stays in check.
Do you know your break-even ACoS?
Margin before ads = your ceiling.
$30 price, $18 costs → $12 margin → 40% break-even ACoS.
Above it, every ad sale loses money.
Below it, you can scale.
Recalculate now. Q4 fees just went up.

@shane_barker Exactly. The easiest test: search your main keyword on your phone and look at your listing next to the top 5. If your title gets cut off before the main benefit, you lose the click to whoever’s doesn’t.
Most shoppers see your Amazon title on mobile.
Only the first ~80 characters really count.
Put there:
Brand
Main keyword
The #1 reason to buy
Save the details for the bullets.

@ppcarchitect Good call on budgets. Running out by early afternoon means missing the evening, when a lot of Q4 buying happens. I also check hourly data so I know which campaigns need the extra room before Black Friday.
CPCs on Amazon usually climb in November.
Don’t panic and cut bids on your best keywords. That’s when buyers are ready.
Cut bids on low converters
Keep spend on proven exact match
Watch TACoS, not just ACoS

Your main image is your most important ad.
Same bids, better main image = more clicks for the same spend.
Product fills 85% of the frame
Show scale or the product in use
Compare vs top 5 competitors on mobile
Higher CTR = cheaper sales.

@markobalazic True 😄 That’s why I tell sellers to put a photo refresh on the calendar once a year, same as a pricing review. If it’s not scheduled, it never happens.
@markobalazic Exactly. And then they raise bids to fix a click problem the photo caused.
A fresh main image is often the cheapest PPC win in the whole account.

@1000asins Good trick for researching other listings. On your own, Business Reports by child item shows the exact split. Then push ad spend on the top 2–3 child ASINs instead of the parent. In most accounts a few sizes drive most sales, so the budget should follow them.
@Junglr_LLC Step 4 is the one most people skip. Accounts scale, someone “optimizes” the top campaign, and the winner stops winning. I keep proven campaigns in their own bucket with their own budgets so new tests never steal their spend.
ACoS vs TACoS. Most sellers only watch one.
ACoS = ad spend ÷ ad sales
TACoS = ad spend ÷ total sales
ACoS tells you if ads are efficient.
TACoS tells you if ads grow the whole business.
TACoS falling while sales rise = organic rank is working.

@shane_barker Exactly. And check the size tier too. Being slightly over a size or weight limit can bump you into the next tier and wipe out your margin. Measure the packaged product, not just the product itself.
New to Amazon? 5 things every seller should know on day one:
Calculate FBA fees before buying stock
Your main image sells the click
Get first reviews via Amazon Vine
Start ads small: auto campaign, $10/day
Never run out of stock
Save this.

@FbaAbe And in Q4 that timeline stretches. Check-in alone can take 2–3 weeks once warehouses fill up. Anyone counting on Black Friday sales should have stock shipped by early November, not mid. Late inventory means watching the peak from the sidelines.
@MillPrue This is why I recalculate break-even ACoS every October. On a $15 item, that $0.32 plus the surcharge can shave about 3 points off your ceiling. Bid on last month's numbers and you're losing money on sales that look profitable.
